This property is part of our Cottages4you collection

In superb locations and beautiful settings. Cottages4you gives you a fantastic range of hand-picked properties with quality you can rely on.

This thatched property is great for family holidays, with attractions such as Paignton Zoo and Crealy Adventure Park nearby.

This delightful, partly thatched 16th century barn conversion nestles in the heart of the beautiful village of Combeinteignhead. It has been lovingly restored and furnished to a very good standard and retains many original features, including timber beams and has a lovely log burner nestled into a stone chimney, an outdoor pizza oven, a very quaint patio and walled outdoor area, which is great for children and pets. There are fields all around the property, and the River Teign is a 5-minute walk away over the fields. There is a free tennis court 50 yards away (which has a farmers market next door every weekend), a wonderful riverside pub, restaurant and bar 5 minutes’ walk away, and a 17th century local pub, just 500 yards away, which serves traditional pub food and specialises in award-winning real ales. The pub also has live music evenings, ranging from jazz to rock nights, quiz nights and themed food evenings. The owners also have a smallholding 100 yards away, which guests can visit unaccompanied and contains miniature ponies, chickens and pigs. The river offers a variety of watersports (sailing, water skiing, canoeing etc.) and there is lots of great fishing to be had. It is also renowned with bird watchers and nature lovers. At the mouth of the river approximately 2 miles away, lies the picturesque seaside village of Shaldon with lovely sandy beaches. The larger towns of Teignmouth and Torquay are only a few miles further, which have excellent harbors, restaurants, shops, cinemas, a zoo and the famous Ness Beach. The market town of Newton Abbot is 2 miles away, and has a market on a Saturday and a local farmer’s market on a Tuesday. Dartmoor is within easy driving distance (20 minutes by car), which offers breathtaking landscapes of heather clad tors, wild ponies and sheep. Slightly further afield (35 minutes by car) is the jewel in south Devon’s crown, Dartmouth, the home of Agatha Christie. Visitors are able to catch a steam train in Paignton to visit the NT property and combine this with a ferry up the River Dart. The possibilities are endless, and The Swallows is ideally placed to explore this beautiful part of the country! Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

Loved the cottage however a larger dishwasher would be great - also there is a lack of glass wear and large Mugs. Small issues - Overall its a fab place to stay with two lovely pubs actually as described within walking distance.

So wish I could give 10 for everything as we did have a lovely time!! And loved the house, but as people have said in the past the beds are very uncomfortable and after a long day out with the kids all you want is to come back to a comfortable bed!! If the beds were changed we would go again! The only other thing that lets the house down is the yard, but nothing can be done about that of course. But we did love the house and had a very nice family holiday!!! Thank you

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments, we are pleased to report the mattresses have been updated and so beds should be much more comfy. Best regards from the Swallows

The cottage is lovely . I found my bed a little too hard for comfort , but am used to sleeping on a cloud ! The bath in my bedroom was awesome and loads of hot water to keep filling . We loved cooking in the kitchen and it was well epuipped . We would definately stay again . Lovely home made cake given to us which we all enjoyed . Nice people .

We had a homemade cake from the owners left in the kitchen and the house was spacious and airy on arrival. Another nice touch was having 'Alexa' set up in the kitchen and you could actually ask her anything, especially if asking for music or radio - other answers were rather vague but it was still fun! The facilities were good and it was comfortable with ample seating and equipment for our fairly large group. We were invited to leave a photo (camera provided) and add it to the 'photo wall' which we took part in. The dogs were made to feel welcome and it was easy to let them out and exercise them in the near vicinity.
