Description

A short drive from the M40 giving easy access to Birmingham and London, or for simply exploring the delights of the Cotswolds.

Set in rolling rural countryside on the borders of Northamptonshire and Oxfordshire, yet only a short drive from the major motorway connections of the M40 (Junctions 10 and 11), The Hayloft and The Stalls (refs NAB & NAC) are adjoining barn conversions which lie on the edge of the Cotswolds. They offer spacious, light and airy holiday accommodation that is still warm, cosy and comfortable with wooden floors and a wood-burning stove. There are numerous established footpaths and bridle paths which criss-cross the area and take guests through some of the most picturesque countryside and landscapes. The nearby village of Aynho is famous for the apricot trees grown on the stone walls of the old houses. The historic market town of Banbury is close by, whilst Deddington (with a monthly farmers’ market), Chipping Norton, Moreton-in-Marsh and Shipston-on-Stour give a more traditional view of the Cotswolds and the chance to stroll along the quaint high streets, stopping at one of the many tea shops and country inns for which the area is famous. Less than 30 minutes away lies Blenheim Palace, in the town of Woodstock, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and home of the Blenheim Horse Trials. In the opposite direction, why not sample Sulgrave Manor (ancestral home of the family of George Washington) or Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit, situated next to a forest - or divert to shop at designer boutiques in the highly acclaimed Bicester Village Outlet Centre. A little farther afield, but still within easy driving distance, lie the university city of Oxford, the ancient town of Warwick, Leamington Spa and the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Commonly referred to as Shakespeare’s Stratford, this is the perfect opportunity to visit many historic attractions including the Birthplace, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and the world famous Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Aynho is an hour’s journey north to Birmingham (with the National Exhibition Centre) or south to London itself. There are excellent fast trains from Banbury or Bicester, or drive via the M40. excellent location, lovely property. Suitable for a large family, can be noisy due to open plan layout. Plenty of seating, tableware and space for 8 people, only 1 oven shelf which is difficult if cooking for numbers greater than 2. plenty of parking spaces and liked the hot tub and views

Beautiful accommodation at a really high standard and located in the most idyllic setting. We had a wonderful long weekend away enjoying the hot tub and the local villages then dining in the house come evening time. I will certainly be looking to go back.

A great place to stay for my group of girlfriends. Once a year we have our fabulous girly weekend, and it is so difficult to find somewhere top of the range with en suite bath/shower rooms and ZIP AND LINK BEDS! I can't understand why more holiday home owners don't go for this option as it is so much more versatile. Extremely well equipped, very well laid out, lovely spot - and we even enjoyed seeing the M42 traffic and the trains going up and down! Both the owner and the caretaker were very pleasant and welcoming. We feel that more could be done to facilitate recycling (ie separate bins?) and considering the huge amount of birdlife listed, it would be nice to have some feeders to tempt them nearer.

Great Place to stay. Place was spacious and had mostly what we needed. The owners were great as was the on site caretaker Helen. A place for familys or groups to have a great time with plenty of room.

We had such a great time at the Stalls - we're a group of 8 friends (couples) and The Stalls was perfect for our long weekend break - really open sociable living space, fully equipped kitchen (more plates, glasses and cooking equipment than you'll ever need!) and amazing hot tub - although it was a little too windy for us to use to its full potential. Such beautiful surroundings and decorated to a really high standard - felt like home for two nights. Rooms were really comfy, really big beds and the perfect amount of bathrooms so there wasnt any quing in the mornings!

A fantastic long weekend which we plan on repeating next summer. The cottage is situated close enough to the motorway to make it easy to find, but far enough away to make you feel like you're in the heart of the countryside. Banbury train station is a 15 min car/taxi ride away and there are a few local pubs within walking distance, however we chose to stay on site and BBQ our food (we brought our own BBQ). The cottage is surrounded by a few acres of fields/farmland with great views in every direction. The property is only a couple of years old so the interior looks modern and feels brand new. The kitchen has all the usual appliances, there are a number of televisions throughout the cottage, and the hot tub (not pictured) is a brilliant addition and where we spent the majority of the weekend. There is Wifi at the cottage and plenty of phone signal. We were provided with towels and fresh sheets, plus separate towels for the hot tub. There are a few places to sit outside, as well a number of grass areas for playing sport or going for walks. We were pretty pleased with the price for three nights, however if you stay for a week you seem get a better deal depending on the time of year/availability. There was great communication from the site's caretaker via email prior to arriving to ensure we could pick up the keys and choose between single or twin beds. She lives on-site, along with the owners, so any problems/questions can be sorted very quickly. We couldn't fault the property and plan on making it the venue for our annual get together.
