Description

Retaining many original features, this former stable is in a rural setting, yet is only 15 miles from the city of Lincoln.

This beautifully converted, single-storey, former stable stands detached in the grounds of the owner’s home in the rural hamlet of Stragglethorpe. The property has retained many original features, and is just 8 miles from Newark and 12 miles from Grantham. The small village church is believed to be one of only four unaltered Saxon churches in the country. This is an ideal touring base with a visit to Lincoln and its imposing cathedral - used for the filming of ’The Da Vinci Code’ - just 15 miles away. Also within an easy drive are Belvoir Castle, Belton House, Southwell Minster and RAF Cranwell. The showground at Newark is host to many antique fairs and other events. Shop 3 miles, pub 1 mile.

Beamed open-plan living/dining room with wood-burning stove, kitchen area and French doors, all with tiled floor. Utility. Two double bedrooms, one with French doors, and twin bedroom with French doors; each with en-suite shower room and toilet or bathroom and toilet.

Wood-burning stove - initial fuel included, thereafter available locally. Electricity, full oil underfloor central heating, bed linen and towels included. Cot. High chair. Freeview TV. DVD. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Large lawned garden with sitting-out area and furniture. Parking (for 3 cars). Cycle store. No smoking. Wheelchair access .

The stables was ideal for a family and friends get together, lots of space, great garden, pets allowed, easy access to Newark and Lincoln for tourism, and good eateries. Great ambience. But! Sofas very uncomfortable,as were some of the beds, embarrassing shortage of glasses ( we went out and bought some) although lots of everything else. All rooms dusty, towels well worn. One wet room needed attention to taps and toilet flush. A small investment of time and resource would make this an amazing and good value holiday base.

A lovely cottage which suited our needs - the garden is lovely and all enclosed for the dog. Owners on site - very friendly and helpful.

Lovely property and a great base for touring the area. The local pub was a bit further than we thought (a couple of people in our party aren't too great at walking). Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.

The stables is a beautiful property. It has everything that you would need. There wasn't a dvd player when we arrived and the owners went and bought one straight away. The bedrooms are lovely, especially the master bedroom. There is a lovely large grass area for the children to play on, including a table tennis table and football goal. We had a superb holiday. The property is in a very remote area but that is part of its charm.
