Detached cottage for couples secluded within two acres within the grounds of Buchanan Castle

The Stables is a delightful detached cottage set in the grounds of Buchanan Castle (now a ruin) in the heart of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. Sitting within two acres of private woodland there is an uninterrupted view out over the open fields of Strathendrick, where the river Endrick flows out to Loch Lomond. This quaint, peaceful cottage has been beautifully furnished and is ideal for honeymooners or couples wanting to get away from it all. Local amenities are available at Drymen, only one mile away where there are hotels, pubs, restaurants, shops and leisure facilities. There are quiet roads and trails to explore around the Castle, with good access for walks and cycling. The cosy double bedroom is beautifully coordinated and enjoys a lovely view. The open plan living space has a fitted kitchen, leather sofa, dining table and wall mounted TV/DVD with freeview. The patio doors open out onto the large deck at the front of the cottage, providing a lovely area to relax, enjoy the view and spot the wildlife. The cottage has an open grassy garden and mature trees, sos you may see deer wondering by, perhaps red squirrels or pine martens in the tree, so bring your binoculars.

    A nice private place, away from people. Drymen is a nice little place for eating/drinking out. There was a pipe band in the square on Thursday nights for a few weeks over summer. Some minor expenditure would improve the property experience, pans that aren't scratched, a plastic spatula (so the pans don't get scratched again). Your mission, try to cook something in the oven without the smoke alarm going off. Would book again for next year but the plot of land it sits on is for sale with planning permission.

    Wonderful stay. Peaceful location, within walking distance to Drymen and local amenities. Great walks around. The owners Mr & Mrs Stang have left a really useful folder with information about local walks, those further afield, places of interest and also bird and wildlife you may spot. The cottage is a well kept, clean and cosy, with lovely views. We had a fantastic stay.

    Not entirely as described on website, in fact quite a few differences. However, this did not detract from our enjoyment of The Stables. We had a lovely, quiet stay.

    Lovely cottage but shower on the small side not suitable for larger people. There is no garden, it's all woodland , no flat areas except the decking and drive. No level grass area. The patio doors no longer have access. But cannot fault the cottage. Great for exploring and would stay there again.

    Never been to this area of Scotland before and it was beautiful. Cottage was ideal for us due to its location and its garden was great for the dog.
