Perfectly situated for walking and bird watching, with several sandy beaches close by or step back in time as you admire the abbey ruins.

Enjoy a relaxing holiday surrounded by countryside in these barn conversions which have been decorated and fitted to a very good standard. They are situated on the owners’ working arable farm, and guests are welcome to use the footpaths crossing the farmland. Take a few steps back in time to the year of 1193 AD when you view the abbey ruins, once bustling with French monks. During the dissolution of the monasteries, Henry VIII had many stones removed from the abbey to build his fortifications at Deal and Walmer. Follow in the monks’ footsteps, (today a 20 minute car journey), and take a trip to Canterbury. Dover is 5 minutes’ drive, ideal for day trips to France or to visit its castle and admire the famous white cliffs. The properties are perfectly situated for walking and bird watching, with several good sandy beaches close by. Monks & Flint barns are adjoining. The Stables & Nell’s Barn are detached. Shop 1½ miles, pub 2 miles.

This is an amazing cottage which has everything we needed for a great holiday. We had everything provided we needed. The location is lovely, we walked to local pubs, however there is a big hill. Lots of walks available starting at the Cottage itself. It was clean and warm and the owners are very friendly. I was lucky enough to see some amazing wild birds during our stay and it is close to lots of things to do. Nothing to do with the cottage but dog owners be aware a lot of stiles through the fields were not dog friendly and our Labrador is quite heavy to carry over them.

For 2 of our children the cottages were a long way from any city, to shop or go out. For my eldest son, who brought his dog, it was a very nice environment. For me, who came to be with family and for some rest, it was a great place in a beautiful environment.

Beautiful tranquil place. Awful rain for five days didn't spoil our enjoyment of our visit, and it was lovely to come back in the evenings to a warm comfortable home. The only thing we missed was somewhere (a tray or similar?) to put the wet muddy boots. Hopefully not too many people would need it! Lovely walks close by, lots of interesting places to visit. We particularly enjoyed the White Cliffs national trust park. Good places to eat in Dover and Folkestone.

.My wife and I are in our early 80s. The property is tranquil, warm and comfortable, and well equipped. The situation is pleasant and the getting-to directions very accurate. A good base for our castle-visiting and bird-watching break. Recommended.
