This charming property is just 10 minutes’ walk from the sea, on the beautiful Hook Peninsula in Co. Wexford, Ireland’s sunniest county. Set round a courtyard along with the owners’ house, it has been carefully converted from a traditional 18th-century, stone farm building, retaining old beams and stonework. The Stable enjoys its own patio garden and shares the central courtyard. The Wexford coastal path runs close by and horse riding, fishing, scuba diving or relaxing can be enjoyed. Friendly Fethard-on-Sea offers restaurants, entertainment and sporting activities, all within walking distance, and the immediate area offers wonderful scenery, gardens, crafts, bird-watching, canoeing and windsurfing. There is also a playground in the village. The area offers many historic sites including Tintern Abbey, Dunbrody Abbey, Duncannon Fort, Fethard Castle and Hook Lighthouse. There are sandy coves, sea and river fishing nearby. Shop, post office, pubs and restaurants ¼ mile.

Approximate distance to Dublin Airport is 179 km.

Living/dining-room with modern fitted kitchen area. Shower room with toilet. Mezzanine double bedroom (can be twin) with wood floor, exposed beams and sloping ceiling.

Electricity, hot water and electricity rads (on timer) by coin meter. Bed linen included. Travel cot. High chair. Freesat TV. Microwave. Shared laundry room with washer/dryer. Wi-fi. Small enclosed patio garden and furniture. Barbecue on request. Parking (2 cars in courtyard).

Undoubtedly the worst property we have booked in over twenty years of renting holiday cottages. The furniture was extremely dated, with the neither the cooker grill or oven working. The Internet signal could be regarded as extremely poor and indeed only worked intermittently, with the TV being little better. All power was charged by way of coin slot (including the washing machine and dryer - which were also antiquated and dirty). Wardrobe upstairs smelt so bad that we did not dare to hang any clothes in it. Outside the whole area was in need of a good tidy to at least make the appearance of being presentable. Renters beware, the pictures of this property most certainly show it in a light which it has not probably seen for twenty years - only go if you want to get an idea of a yesteryear Ireland - or better, book somewhere else!

TV, Internet barely work oven barely heated up and microwave was poor bed looks huge but it is actually two single beds pushed together and electricity is on a coin slot and everything is electric so expensive.

We had a good time but the premises are a bit basic.

Whole property (which includes three others) very tired. It requires a complete upgrade both inside and out; new furniture, paintwork refreshed inside and out, grouting for shower, a plug for bathroom sink. The courtyard was full of weeds; the patio area for the Stable needs a good scrape and brush to get rid of the moss and accumulated dirt. If even some of the small things in the outside area had been attended to, a far better impression could have been made. The Property is and has been on the market and a period of time and it seems that the owner/s either do not have the inclination, or cannot be bothered to keep their property in a reasonable state of repair. This was the worst holiday rental property we have stayed in over the last 14 years. The photographs used of the property must be a number of years out of date.
