Had a fantastic family holiday. Jackie was an excellent host. TV was broken when we arrived so other half unfortunately missed the Football, but TV was sorted later that day. We missed wifi, but managed fine. Our only comment was the fridge was very small seen as it is for a Self catering holiday. Overall very enjoyable and lovely location for what we wanted. Pub in village closed, wrong times for village shop in cottage, but info on main road, directions slightly misleading as mentions post office, which we never came across, and no sign on Bearn Lane, but found it from description of chapel on corner.

The cottage was just as pictured. Warm and comfortable with a welcoming owner. We couldn't ask for more. We would love to go back sometime.

The stable was very cosy and warm and very peaceful, but just a little remote. If it had been in the summer evenings we would have ventured out, but as there was no pub in the village it meant along drive. The stable was well equipped to a high standard and very comfortable, we enjoyed our stay.

Thoroughly enjoyed our week; cottage might seem small on arrival but it is so easy , convenient and comfortable to use that it is a delight. Lovely view. Very welcoming and helpful hosts.

Tranquil location, rustic accommodation, ideal for accessing Barnstaple, Exmoor and South Molton. BUT - we were disappointed with the uninviting, untidy outdoor space. Driveway approach is dreadfully bumpy and has been mentioned as an issue on here for at least 4yrs. The Stable was superficially clean but would benefit from some deep cleaning. There are also areas of damp which need dealing with as the place mildly smells of it when you walk in. The underfloor heating was nice but the main thermostat doesn't actually control it very well. The house instruction book is dirty and out of date. Also, either net curtains or blinds are needed at bedroom window and main door as privacy is an issue and the owner's house sits close by and above the Stable. Only a shop nearby and nothing much else - but we knew that in advance. A vacuum cleaner and wi-fi would be desirable extra touches to make The Stable better value. Other than those points, it's fairly cosy, secluded, lovely welcome with scones and jam from the owner, plentiful towels and hot water (actually too hot - ouch!!), comfortable but basic beds, decent TV and dvd player and a good location to explore north Devon.
