The Small Cottage is a delightful, detached self catering property which has been newly renovated. Formerly a worker’s bothy, the building dates back over 100 years to when the Gladhouse Reservoir was being constructed. Situated in the small hamlet of Gladhouse next to the reservoir, the cottage enjoys a quiet and peaceful location within Mid Lothian. However, Edinburgh city centre is less than a half hour’s drive away. The cottage lies nestled within a lovely garden containing old Scots Pine trees and red brick lined borders. Inside the cottage there is a welcoming open plan living area comprising a fully fitted and well equipped kitchen, breakfast bar area and lounge space with leather sofa. Patio doors lead out into the garden and a tantalising glimpse of the reservoir through the trees. The master bedroom at the opposite end of the cottage has a luxurious leather framed bed and bi-folding patio doors leading out to a small patio area and a further glimpse of the reservoir beyond. The compact second bedroom has twin beds and is ideal for children. The cottage backs onto open farmland with grazing sheep and views out over the Pentland Hills. It is only a short stroll down to the reservoir itself and there are miles of quiet roads and marked trails to walk and cycle within the surrounding countryside.
