Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Dating back to the 1700s, this cosy retreat is close to Trust woodland and Marsland Mouth, with Bude further afield.

Standing alone within a peaceful hamlet, this sympathetic, single-storey barn conversion dates back to the 1700s and has some facilities for less mobile guests including a wet room with a shower stool. A warm and cosy retreat, it has been decorated and furnished with flair and enjoys sole use of a sitting-out area. A 1½-mile walk through Trust woodland leads to the coast at Marsland Mouth, with its beautiful combe and river. Sandy beach, 5 miles. Fishing close by. Bude, 10 miles, for shops, leisure centre, tennis, golf and beach. Shops 4 miles, pub 1½ miles.

All on ground floor: Living room. Kitchen. 2 bedrooms: 1 double (four poster), 1 twin with sloping ceiling. Wetroom with bath and toilet (Jack ’n’ Jill access from both bedrooms). Most rooms with terracotta tiled floor.

Woodburner in living room (initial fuel included). Oil underfloor central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. High chair. Blu-ray. Stereo/CD. Microwave. Washing machine. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Patio and furniture. Barbecue. Parking. No smoking. NB: Unfenced pond and stream in owner’s gardens.

Absolutely loved this cottage. Andy and Pam, on arrival, couldn't have made us feel more welcome. It's a bit in the "sticks" but, that's what we loved - peace and quiet. Local amenities are just a short drive away, so no real problem with that - that's the only reason the rating has been marked down because, there are no close by amenities.

The Shippen is a beautiful cottage in a lovely part of Cornwall. It's a real home from home with really nice extras like a bottle of wine and milk in the fridge!!!! Pam also made us a scrummy cream tea. We all loved our holiday and would definitely go back to The Shippen.

The Shippon is a lovely cottage in picturesque North Cornwall and is an ideal bolt hole for a quiet get away. The area is incredibly beautiful with lots to do and see. Bude is not too far away for an enjoyable day out and to obtain provisions. The area is good for walking, including along the beautiful coast. The Shippon is very clean and comfortable and we found all arrangements to be straight forward. The hosts live in the adjoining farm house and were on hand to welcome us, with refreshments, to the cottage. A nice cream tea was also provided during our stay. We would recommend this cottage and stay there again ourselves.
