Description

An ideal touring base, with beaches, harbour towns, cliff top walks and leisure parks all nearby.

Situated in the heart of the historic town of Pembroke, this charming, terraced townhouse has been nicely presented throughout, and makes a perfect touring base for a family or couples looking for a Pembrokeshire adventure. Formerly part of a school dating back to the 18th century, this holiday home has retained much of its original charm and character, and also has lots of welcoming touches that have been added for a homely feel throughout. Outside, guests can enjoy their own private, enclosed garden with views over the commons, where you can sit, relax and unwind after spending a busy day exploring. The heart of the town is on your doorstep, offering traditional Welsh pubs, cafes, gift shops and an iconic Norman castle, famous as being the birthplace of King Henry VII. Conveniently located, the area abounds with dozens of world-class beaches, some so secluded you may have one to yourself, even in high summer! Enjoy cliff-top walks along the iconic coastal path or take a tranquil stroll around the secluded inland backwaters of the Bosheston Lily Ponds, where otters can be spotted on a clear day. Visit the picturesque harbour towns of Tenby and Saundersfoot, and discover their array of irresistible restaurants, boutique gift shops and thrilling leisure parks. Take a sea safari boat ride around the offshore island of Caldey, which continues the traditions of the Cistercian monks. Horse riding and golf can be found nearby. Beach 2 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

This was a comfortable holiday home with shops and eating establishments close at hand. It was a good base for the area within easy reach of many beautiful beaches and other places of interest. The owner was friendly and helpful.

We had a great holiday in The School House, it is in a perfect location for exploring all the amazing beaches in that part of Pembrokeshire. The welcome pack was a lovely extra. Having its own garden in the middle of town was also a bonus as well as the park which was only a few minutes walk away. We loved being able to walk to shops (something we can't do at home). The decor was modern and made a change from some of the bland places we've been before. It was all a very good experience, I would only make a few comments about some of the things that were missing; cafetière, 6 chairs (it sleeps 6 but there are only 4 chairs around a small table) likewise only 4 table mats. Some of the cooking utensils were not very good either. These are only small complaints and if you're planning to eat out a lot it will make no difference but if you like coffee, take your own coffee making equipment!

The set up was lovely. A real home from home feeling and the fantastic log burner played a big part after walking around Tenby and Saundersfoot in the wind and rain. The only issue we had with The School House was parking. There were road works (broadband being installed) and on returning on the Saturday afternoon, we couldn't get parked and had to drive around the back of the building. Okay if you are fit to walk back to the property up a sleep hill. Unfortunately I'm not due to back issues.
