Basic but lovely. Website said that there was a welcome pack, which there wasn't, so arrived with nothing, which was frustrating. Other than that it was pretty good.

It was a lovely idyllic setting but the sound of the traffic was rather loud.. Such a shame. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great so was unable to sit outside on the decking area, and it was very shady

Lovely location, lodge very clean but bed and sofa may need replacing soon. Beautiful area with ducks and geese. Ideal base to explore the New Forest. I was sad to leave the peaceful decking area and would stay again in a heartbeat.

Really nice place relaxing and quiet driveway a little rough but ok if your car's not to low and traffic noise does spoil the otherwise lovely location

The 22 acres & 3 (extremely small) lakes (tho' plenty of fish if you're an angler) was a disappointment. The Retreat is in the middle of a series of barbed-wire horse fields so you cannot walk far (15 mins at most round the whole lot). The property itself is really cute and spotless but the bed (which the owners are aware of ) is a cheap flimsy metal affair which squeaks with every move and the mattress is VERY uncomfortable). People who use the horse fields walk around the property exercising their dogs; and fishermen use the larger lake so there is limited privacy. (A child and a fisherman both appeared at the rear bedroom window - on separate occasions.) But the absolute killer is that the property is only a couple of hundred yards from an excruciatingly busy A road (even on Christmas Day). It is extremely noisy and cannot be walked along safely (ie if you want to go for a stroll or walk to the local pub you have to drive - and there are no 'grounds' to walk round. If you're expecting a base to go walking without having to rely on a car this is not for you. However, if you're a fisherman I should imagine it's a dream.
