Description

With its own unique charm and character, this holiday home enjoys a beautiful location on the slopes of the Alde Valley.

Nestling in 15 acres of ancient meadows, woodland and orchard on the slopes of the Alde valley, these three holiday cottages have been sensitively converted from the outbuildings of nearby Cransford Hall. Featuring an Edwardian walled garden, the grounds are a refuge for a variety of wild birds, including owls. Of individual style and character, the cottages boast exceptionally well-equipped kitchens and fittings, furnishings and fabrics of the highest quality. Each has its own private garden area with furniture, all enjoy shared use of a games room with full-size snooker table, pool table, table tennis and a children’s area with toys and games. There are excellent walks, too, and facilities for croquet and other lawn games. The owner, who lives nearby, is a gourmet cook and offers evening meals for delivery to the cottages (only by prior direct arrangement). Within walking distance is Bruisyard with its Saxon church. Framlingham (4 miles) is a small market town with shops, restaurants and inns; in its picturebook setting, the 12th-century castle dominates the town. Sutton Hoo, with its visitor centre, is just a 20-minute drive away. Aldeburgh (about 12 miles) is popular for sailing and famous for its music festival and concerts at Snape Maltings. The coastal area is an excellent one for bird-watching, particularly at the RSPB reserve of Minsmere (10 miles). Sports centre, golf and riding all within 20 minutes’ drive.

Offering convenient accommodation all on one floor, this detached cottage has its own patio. Large, comfortable living room with south-facing windows overlooking orchard , dining area and wood-burning stove. Arch to fully fitted and equipped Spanish-chestnut kitchen. Double bedroom. Twin bedroom. Full-size bunk bedroom. Bathroom with shower attachment and toilet. Spacious shower room with toilet.

The Pottery provided the perfect accommodation for our group of four 'girls'! The owners were very welcoming and we would recommend taking advantage of one of their homemade meals. Delicious! The gardens are delightful and we could have spent hours in them if time had allowed. Would definitely make a return visit.

Nice cottage in lovely surroundings but perhaps a bit too remote, particularly with respect to communicating with the outside world. Whilst its nice to "get away from it all", this was perhaps too much for the modern, "connected", world. (EG No mobile signal and somewhat flaky wifi only available in the games room - which is attached to the main house about 100yards away.)

Came back for the 2nd year and loved it, the first time we've ever been back to the same place twice to that says something in itself! You won't beat the location and the grounds, plus the play room if the weather isn't too good.

Our family of 3 adults and 2 children stayed at the Pottery in May 2015 for the half term holiday. The Pottery itself well maintained and nicely decorated fitting in with its setting. For the 5 of use staying there was plenty of room both inside and outside, as the cottage has its own outdoor area which does not intrude on the other cottages. Even though its location in Bruisyard is quite remote it is easy to get to places for days out in 30 - 45 minutes drive to Framlingham and the coast at Southwold. The Cottage is well equipped as a home away from home, with FreeSat and DVD player. The only reason is did not score higher overall was we found the games room while well equipped with games and books for adaults, it was not well kept and felt cold and could do with some TLC. The selection of children’s toys as advertised was poor or not well maintained. The WiFi not being available in the cottage was also inconvenient, having to walk up to the games room and try and log on and having poor connectivity, made organising days out more difficult as so much is done online. Over all we had lovely stay at the Pottery and found its location ideal for exploring the surrounding area.

Lovely location and beautiful gardens. Cottage itself was clean and tidy but probably could do with a little updating. No Wi Fi or phone signal in cottage, but overall very satisfied

A good location for touring this part of Suffolk. In the absence of the owners a problem with a tap in the bathroom remained unresolved, also were unable to contact anybody on departure.
