Excellent stay at the olde cartlodge, would have been 10 all round but there was a slight issue with wifi cutting out which was a little inconvenient for our teenage sons, but in all fairness the information did say intermittent wifi and we were in a beautiful rural location so I guess you could say it was to be expected. Photo's don't do it justice and the owners were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. It was lambing season and we got to see some lovely baby lambs just days old.

A beautiful property with excellent amenities and wonderful views. We were made extremely welcome. The property is very wheelchair friendly and with a wet-room is an excellent property for the disabled.

Was met by Dave and shown everything in the cottage, such a nice guy. We enjoyed our stay and would book again . Jill also was very nice and together have to offer a very nice cottage and can't fault anything.

We have been very lucky in the past and have stayed in some very lovely cottages. The Olde Cartlodge now tops the list. The location is just great for a quiet and peaceful holiday, good walking right from the door and the surrounding countryside and villages wonderful. The owners, although on site, do not intrude and are full of information and extremely helpful.

We had a fantastic stay in this lovely cottage. We felt very much at home. Also we find the cottage very comfortable and the groundfloor heating is so very luxurious. The owners are lovely people and they can tell you so much about the area. We really hope to come back next year.

There was no dishwasher which is unusual these days and the lasagne dish needs replacing. Very comfortable beds and sofas. The heating and insulation was extremely efficient which we weren't expecting and we were lovely and warm throughout our stay. There were a few issues with blinds but the owners were very helpful. Beautiful location and loved looking out of the window and seeing the castle every morning, especially in the October mists. The only issue I have is the usual one of a massive price increase because it's a half term holiday. If it'd been the week before or after I would have said it was value for money.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments. We are pleased that this guest and her family had a very pleasant stay. Unfortunately we do not advertise that we have a dishwasher. Most people who book the Cartlodge are aware of this as all facilities and services are clearly identified on the website advert for the property. We have taken on board the comment regarding the lasagne dish and accordingly have replaced this.

Great holiday cottage in a great location. All the attractions are within a 45 min drive from the historic Audley End House to Colchester zoo (which is excellent for the kids) and shopping at Braintree Freeport and even a trip into London is possible. Quiet location and some fantastic photos of Hedingham Castle peeking through the early morning mist from the livingroom. Cottage is situated down a country lane and our kids enjoyed seeing the wildlife up close along with Indie the dog! Would recommend to anyone.

We enjoyed our holiday a lot . Spacious, good table for dining, nice beds, beautiful view. Excellent location, & having a little visitor several times a day to keep an eye on things-- thanks Indie. Will return again for sure.
