The Olde Cartlodge is the best self catering we have stayed in in a scenic location spotlessly clean and very relaxing we would recommend The Olde Cartlodge to anybody who wanted to stay in the area. Gill and Dave made us very welcome and were very good with all the local information.

Really nice, well priced given it was half term, good rural location and nice village, albeit only walking distance with small children over the fields. Very friendly.

Wonderful friendly owners live next to their lovely cottage which beautiful views across the fields. Easy to walk into village across the fields or by using the local paths. There were comfortable beds, warm under floor heating and spacious rooms including a kitchen open to the dining/ reception room making it a good choice for a family get together. The kitchen was well equipped, just missing a dishwasher (a clothes washer was in its place) or a side draining rack to help with the washing up. Both ensuite bathrooms were a good size with powerful showers, just beware that the main bedroom's shower is not thermostatic and can turn vey hot and cold when other taps are used in the lodge. Tea towels were provided for the kitchen and two big fluffy towels were provided for each guest, but you might want to bring a couple of small hand towels to use by everybody in the ensuites. We had a lovely time and would book agasin if we were visiting Essex.
