Wow! This was the most enjoyable cottage holiday we have ever had.Spotlessly clean and perfectly equipped with a really homely feel. The village pub is excellent with great food and the surrounding area is beautiful. The walk along the back lanes to Kirkby Stephen is delightful and almost traffic free. Altogether a wonderfully relaxing place to stay!

Fantastic place to stay. Everything perfect. The location was brilliant for outdoor activities like walking in the Yorkshire Dales, North Pennines and Lake District. Also, great local pub just 40 yards away, which sold great beer and the food was exquisite too! The village was quiet, with little traffic, and all the locals were very friendly too! Definitely would recommend this place, and hope to re-visit it in the very near future!!

We had a lovely week staying at the Old School. Our highlight was seeing red squirrels when out walking nearby.

This is an excellent cottage, one of the best we have stayed in. For our purposes the location is excellent, as we were able to combine visiting the Lake district with trips to Co Durham, Yorkshire dales and south west Scotland. At the same time it is a quiet location off the main road.

After 42 years of self-catering holidays we finally found one of the best. The owners lived in this place before they let it out so it has been furnished and equipped with all you could need. In fact we would be happy to live there! The bed is very comfortable, plenty of storage space and lots of hooks, washer/dryer, i-pod dock, wi-fi; we thought we wanted for nothing. You do hear local traffic going past the cottage but the secondary double glazing is good and the traffic is light. Winton is very well situated for trips in this wonderful area. We hope to be back.
