Loved the barn. Also the sheep in the field next door who came to visit each day. The welcome pack was much appreciated. The Bradford Arms pub next door was a good place to eat and drink. Very welcoming.

we were looking for a quiet peaceful few days and this is what we got with this cottage.the pub next door was very useful with a varied and not too expensive menu.we found it ideal for visiting nearby busier towns and places of interest.the cottage was spacious clean and warm with the choice of the log burner or conventional central heating.the hosts colin and wendy were very welcoming with a hamper of goodies delivered to the cottage.we would stay again.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are a small family business and take pride in what we have to offer and how we serve our guests. We are sorry our guest experienced our barn the way he so negatively described. Previous guests who have stayed in our barn have evidenced quite the opposite experience in their feedback. We have a consistent 9.3 score on all aspects that we offer. The barn is fully central heated and guests who stay in it have full control of putting the heating on or off to suit their own personal needs. Our barn offers self-catering facilities, as the person who has made these comments would have received on arrival some complementary essentials and some luxuries. Soaps for all guests, towels, and a welcome hamper of tea, coffee, bread, eggs, milk, wine, cake and fresh flowers, toilet tissue and washing-up liquid. What we provide is not compulsory but offered as a goodwill token, thereon, our guests provide their own essentials. We are very puzzled why this guest chose to vent their unjustified comments viral, rather than speaking to us personally to discuss and evidence exactly what they were unhappy about, therefore giving us the opportunity to see for ourselves.

The Old Forge was probably one of the best cottages we have stayed in. It was cosy, but spacious at the same time, and was excellently placed for touring around National Trust and English Heritage sites and the like. The beds were comfortable, it was well equipped and although we did not use the wood burner as the weather was so mild and we were not back until late most evenings one imagines that that lit would make the place even cosier. We were actually able to sit outside once but in the summer it would be a delight. The owners were friendly and very helpful without being obtrusive - and the lovely welcome pack was much appreciated. There was a little traffic noise, but most certainly nothing really noticeable or disturbing as the cottage is set back from the road - and in any case a minimum of research would establish the fact that there might be some. We can recommend the Bradford Arms next door - there was no noise from that at all - where we had two excellent meals. It is certainly somewhere we would return to if looking for a place in the area.
