We had a great time at the Old Farmhouse, Sue and Steve could not have made us more welcome and comfortable; thats me and my cats who loved the peacefulness and safety away from roads. The house is full of character and history, so to us well worth the trip as it lived up to our expectations and more. The walks were full of character, sheep and cows and I was not only able to walk over the High Peaks Trial but to my surprise, rode one of their horses along it too. Probably the best free range eggs I'll every have : )

The Old Farmhouse is in a quiet valley in a very pretty part of the Peak District. The house is ideal for a family of four or two couples seeking a get-away in the country in a peaceful setting not far from Ashbourne with its excellent pubs, shops and supermarkets. Sue & Steve gave us a great welcome and although close-by when we needed advice or information, left us to our own devices and we were hardly aware they live just next door. Their working farm would be wonderful for a young family with small children.

The place could do with a tidy up and a bit of decorating. It looks a bit tired. Kitchen and equipment needs an upgrade Nice spot. Walks from the door.

The cottage was lovely, although sometimes the heating went off and it went cold very quickly, usually in the day. Also we were looking forward to cooking on the Aga but that was not available.
