This lovely barn conversion is ideal for touring Northumberland and Cumbria, and is within driving distance of Hadrians Wall.

The Old Dairy is a detached barn conversion which has been tastefully converted, and nestles on the border of Cumbria and Northumbria. It sits in a garden, bordered by mature trees with views over green fields and wild fells. Alston is said to be the highest market town in England, and has a quaint cobbled street with public houses, butchers, bakers and even its own candlemaker! It lies within an AONB with the Pennine Way running close to the cottage, and with spectacular scenery all around. Fishing, riding and golf are all nearby, and you can follow some of the local rambles or the Pennine Way. It is ideal for touring the northern Lakes, Yorkshire Dales and Northumbria and within easy driving distance are Hadrians Wall, Hexham, Newcastle, the Metro Centre, Beamish Museum, Ullswater and Keswick. Within the area is an historical Roman fort and tourists will enjoy the museums, exhibitions and sites along Hadrian’s Wall. Shops, pubs and restaurants 2 miles.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with wooden floor. 1 double bedroom. Shower room with toilet.

Oil central heating (underfloor in bathroom), ele, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot and high chair on request. Freesat TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Dishwasher. Freezer. Wonderful cosy place to stay, comfortable bed and beautifully decorated. This is perfect for 2 people and in a great location to get to so many places with just an hours drive to Grasmere or visit Hadrian’s wall. Deliah was so helpful and A great welcome package. The garden was perfect for the dog, no gates though if you need security. We can’t wait to stay again! 5 star accommodation in our view ❤️

We were looking for somewhere where we could go and have some time away from the city and it certainly delivered. The welcome that we got from the owner was first class and she told us about a few places we could visit. The old dairy is finished to such a high standard and was very comfortable. We will definitely be back. The town nearby does not have a huge amount to do but that is not what we were after. If you are wanting to get away from everything and enjoy the countryside this is definitely a place to visit

The cottage is situated in the most beautiful area of the country with skies so dark at night that your breath is taken away by the stars in he sky. After a day out the cottage is the most welcoming place to return to, warm and comfortable with all you need for a restful holiday.

Brilliant much needed 3 day stay in the Lake District. Delia was excellent from the beginning even leaving us the key in the door from the previous day after she had cleaned it and giving us permission to stay until 1200 on the day we left even though we were supposed to be out by 1000. Will definitely be back
