Welcome Cottages

A carefully curated collection of properties that offer high quality, good value accommodation in great locations across the UK, Ireland, France and Italy

Set on a working dairy farm, The Old Dairy is an ideal base from which to explore both quaint market towns of Cheshire and lakes and mountains North Wales.

Set in over 100 acres of farmland, on a working dairy farm, The Old Dairy offers comfortable holiday accommodation, ideal for couples looking for a relaxing break in the countryside. Located between Malpas in Cheshire and Whitchurch in Shropshire, it is the ideal base from which to enjoy the delights of both of these beautiful counties as well as being close to the border with North Wales. This former dairy, which is attached to the main farm house, has been converted into a comfortable, studio style, holiday home which offers plenty of space for two to enjoy. There is a large L-shaped living room which also serves as the bedroom with king sized bed, as well as plenty of living space in which to relax and unwind. There is a separate kitchen and shower room. As all the accommodation is on the ground floor, it is ideal for people who are less mobile. The Old Dairy has its own patio/seating area as well as parking. There are some excellent walks in the area, and there is direct access from the grounds onto Marches Way and the Sandstone Trail is nearby. For avid cyclists, the regional cycleway passes through the village. The small village of No Man’s Heath, which has a local dining pub and a well-stocked village shop is just 2 miles from Malpas which offers a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as monthly farmers’ and crafts market. Whitchurch (6 miles) has a train station and for visitors who are simply wanting to enjoy the local walks and maybe leave their car at home, the owners can arrange transportation to the accommodation. Places of interest nearby include 19th century Cholmondeley Castle and Gardens (2 miles), Nantwich (11 miles), Chester (15 miles) and Wrexham (15 miles). Visitors who enjoy horse racing can choose to visit either Chester races (15 miles) or Bangor-on-Dee (10 miles). Shop ½ mile, pub ¾ mile, restaurant 2 miles.

All on ground floor: Living room with tiled floor and double (5ft) bed. Kitchen with tiled floor. Shower room with toilet.

Oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Travel cot and high chair on request. 32" Freeview TV. DVD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Fridge/freezer. Washing machine and tumble dryer in shared utility room. Wi-fi. Sitting-out area and furniture. Parking (2 cars). Cycle store. Welcome pack. No smoking. NB: Unfenced pond in grounds 100 yards.

This property suited us ideally as we visited friends not far away. The comments of others in the visitors book were all very complimentary and, in our view, rightly so. It is well equipped and quiet and the owners very friendly.

The owners made us feel very welcome. There was a lovely welcome package supplied ie Milk, Butter, Breakfast Cereals and full caddies of Sugar , Tea Bags and selection of Coffee etc not forgetting the lovely home made scones and bottle of wine. Taking into account that you are attached to the owners property there was a very small degree of noise but this was to be expected as well as the external noise due to being a working farm and did not detract us from enjoying our stay. Knowing this cottage had a small amount of space to fit in all the rooms you would need meaning bed location was in same area as lounge we did comment it was a little awkward when one person was an early riser ie my husband that it meant he couldn't open the curtains to let the light in while I was still in bed. Certainly hasn't put us off from going again in the future though. The cottage location was ideally placed for the surrounding area of places to go and things to do.Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would 100% recommend this cottage to others.
