Welsh Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above..

Ideal for groups, this holiday property is equipped with a games room, which has a football table and pool table.

Situated in a picturesque, coastal position with spectacular views over Carmarthen Bay, this large, detached barn has been sympathetically converted to retain its original charm and character, making it an unforgettable experience for a family or groups looking to explore West Wales. This holiday property, adjacent to the owner’s home, is bursting with original character including original stone walls and beams, whilst lots of welcoming touches have been added for that homely feel throughout. For children and family entertainment, the barn boasts a spacious games room equipped with a pool and football table, a great distraction during inclement weather. Outside, guests can enjoy their large, lawned garden with a patio area, where they can sit, relax and unwind whilst watching the sun set over the idyllic bay. Carmarthenshire itself has lots on offer, including fantastic walks along the Millennium Coastal Path, which leads through scenic Pembrey Country Park, which is renowned for its dry ski slope, horse riding trails and 7 miles of beaches. For sports enthusiasts, visitors can enjoy a round of golf at the Jack Nicklaus course or watch live sport at the Llanelli Scartlets Rugby stadium and nearby Ffos Las racecourse. Away from the coast, the Carmarthenshire countryside is just as promising with its array of charming market towns and medieval castles including Kidwelly and Laugharne, or guests can visit the National Botanical Garden of Wales. Just a 60-minute drive away is the popular tourist resort of Tenby, with its cobbled streets, traditional Welsh pubs and thrilling leisure parks which are waiting to be explored. Beach ½ mile. Shop and pub 1 mile.

We have stayed at the Old Cow Shed several times now and keep going back. Our guys have physical and learning disabilities so the access and accommodation is perfect. There are gorgeous views from every direction and lot's to do in the surrounding area, we can't wait to book another holiday for early next year.

A lovely place to celebrate a 90th birthday with all the family. Everything you could wish for in the accommodation and more. The hot tub was a hit especially with the younger members of the family. Would recommend this cottage to anyone.

Though the accommodation itself was spacious enough to house 17 people, there were no 'private' spaces, and if the tv was being used in the mezzanine the sound echoed everywhere. The outside space was disappointing; the secure area for v young children to play was small, and the open grassed areas adjacent to the car parking so not able to be used unsupervised. So while owners/staff were very helpful and friendly, we will be looking for somewhere easier to reach and with more opportunities for small groups to do their thing next time the family goes away together.

Had an amazing weekend at this stunning cottage. It was so spacious and had so much to offer, including a hot tub! Definitely planning a return visit!

A wonderful holiday home, even more spacious than the pictures suggest, tastefully decorated, brilliantly equipped for a big group and with stunning views. Very helpful and welcoming hosts, too. It's in an interesting and quiet area with lots of castles and coastal areas to discover. As others have commented, the only major downside is that sounds carry easily in the bedroom corridor due to the the tiled floors and cast iron door latches, which means early rising children can easily disturb later sleepers. Otherwise, highly recommended!

The only cottage we have stayed with with plentiful supplies of toilet rolls, kitchen rolls, washing up liquid and cleaning materials. Beautifully decorated for Christmas - the children were delighted. Lots of space and children loved the games room. Fabulous long table for our meals together . Two big fridges and a massive freezer but washing machine broke down and oven was complicated even for the technically minded youngsters. Main washing up sink is in a corner so difficult for person doing the drying to get at the dishes (granted great excuse to just let them drain). Hot tub great attraction and again loved by the children. Great space around the cottage for play but the goose seemed to "poo" a lot so we were not keen to let children out to run through it! We did appreciate it was a farm . It must get very busy in the Spring/Summer with the hundreds of caravans around so if we were to return it would be for a Winter break.
