Ideally situated with direct access from the garden onto the fell. So disappointed with the overall standard of the apartment we seriously considered seeking alternative accommodation or an immediate return to our home.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We were very disappointed to read your review following your recent stay at The Old Coach House. This criticism does not contain any details of deficiencies and if there were issues that affected you so much it would only have been fair to let us know asap so we would have had the opportunity to rectify something that was not to your satisfaction. When the property was assessed in 2015 by, it was awarded a three star rating. Rental prices in the Lake District, especially Grasmere, are high but The Old Coach House has one of the lowest charges. We feel The Old Coach House, which is a Victorian property, is very good value for a visit to this area. During 2015, the Reevoo scores varied between 5 and 10, averaging at 7.1. Our Visitors Book contains glowing comments and many holidaymakers return to us year after year.

Lovely location, bedroom fittings all good, comfortable and nice to see that it also had a TV in the bedroom which was unexpected. Bathroom nice (except for mouldy filthy bath mat which I hid until we left becuase looking at it made me sick) Living room good, a bit tired but hey ho that probably keeps the price right. My only issue was the kitchen, although plenty of utensils, pans, crockery etc was supplied, the quality of the cleaning was apalling. I had to clean everything we were going to use and wipe all the tops, the kettle and toaster where sticky to touch and even I had to empty the toaster as it appeared to have a years worth of crumbs and debris in the bottom. The cleaner had left a slimey, filthy dirty sponge scourer on the side (as if anyone would use this, thank god we'd brought our own) Once I had cleaned the kitchen and crockery etc to my satisfaction (and put the filthy manky dishrack and cutlery holder away until we left) then we could enjoy our holiday.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; We have reviewed the 2015 comments about The Old Coach House and would like to address the issues raised. We apologise to this guest as our cleaners clearly had problems that day and their jobs, unusually, were not done properly. The plastic non-slip bathmat is often left rolled up damp causing discolouration. The fabric bathmats are regularly washed. The Old Coach House is a Victorian property and is deliberately furnished in an appropriate style (i.e. not like a modern Hotel). The Lounge TV was replaced by an LCD TV in October. Wet clothes can be dried in the large porch or using the tumble drier in the Laundry Room. Smoke Alarms have to be fixed to the high ceilings for proper operation. N.B. Important - The A591 road to Keswick was severely damaged in the winter floods and will be closed to cars until June, but an hourly Shuttle Bus service between Grasmere and Keswick is now operating. We hope that our guests find the above information useful and we encourage potential visitors to read the many positive comments we have received.

The location was great for walks from the door. the furniture is very dated as is any equipment there. The main problem was there is no where to dry all your wet gear.

It was very conveniently situated and generally well equipped. However, on previous holidays more toilet paper and washing-up liquid have been provided.

Ideally situated for most of the lakes and walking distance of restaurants, cafe , pubs and perfect for walking the surrounding countryside. Didn't have to use the car 4 days out of our week and it was only that we had torrential rain 2 days that we resorted to use the car and venture further afield, cottage was perfect for a quiet get away even though it was part of a complex.

The cottage was very nice and good value for money. Looked a little "grannyish" in the pictures but is much more "cottagey" in the flesh. It has everything you need to enjoy a good break and was fairly well maintained. The area is absolutely incredible with absolutely stunning walks in just about every direction from the cottage. It's a short walk to the beautiful Grasmere village which has everything you could need for your stay. Also has very good transport links to most of the lake district and all of the popular destinations there are fairly accessible. The only issue we had was that it was expected that you bring your own bedding which we weren't told (or at least I never found mention) before going so it would be nice to know what would/wouldn't be available before arriving (bedding/towels/ etc). Would definitely recommend.
