Description

This delightful, detached former chapel is nestled in the stunning Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

This Victorian, detached former chapel has been lovingly restored and retains much of its original charm. The Old Chapel nestles in the wonderful Gloucestershire countryside, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is a great choice for keen walkers as there is the Cotswold Way and many beautiful, shorter walks around the Five Valleys, with its tightly packed villages and surrounding woodland. Minchinhampton Common is nearby with its golf club, just 2 miles away and also bordering Rodborough and Selsey Common which offers further wonderful walks and views. This is an excellent base from which to explore the Cotswolds, set midway between the Regency town of Cheltenham and Georgian town of Bath, and close to the beautiful town of Nailsworth and the famous, award-winning Stroud Farmers’ Market, which takes place every Saturday morning. The village of Painswick, known as the ‘Queen of the Cotswolds’, with its individual shops, art gallery and churchyard, is only a short drive away. Visit Woodchester Mansion, Slimbridge Wildfowl Trust, Berkeley Castle, Westonbirt Arboretum, Royal Tetbury, Roman Cirencester, Badminton and Gatcombe Horse Trials. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

We enjoyed the old chapel very much, quite quirky but just as described in the write up. Owners also rang to check everything was OK which is a nice touch.

A delightful peaceful retreat that proved to be an inspired choice. Picturesque views , a sympathetically restored honey coloured Cotswold stone building combines comfort and style with its great interior. A wonderful bed, fantastic heating system and a terraced patio that is a perfect suntrap for the evenings. Romantically , loving couples could exist in timeless splendid isolation , a week at a time . If I were to win the lottery I would be making the owners an offer they couldn't refuse. It is as good as it looks in the pictures. Would we stay again? Already booked ! If you are a prospective client whose instincts are tingling then roll the dice and book, its worth every penny. constructive criticsm : A TV with more channels or usb port, wifi (I can live without it but some cannot) and as a preference a washing machine instead of a dishwasher.
