Lovely little cottage and lovely setting. The kitchen and toilets where not all that clean, worktops had mice droppings and things were dusty, and the toilets & sinks were not cleaned properly, hairs everywhere as if the cleaner as cleaned them with dirty cloths. The main thing I found about the place too and what somebody left as a review is that the central heating doesn't work, I couldn't have a bath when I arrived, it was too cold. The owners must know about it because there was 2 electric heaters in the kitchen & bedroom which was useless. I asked the owners about the heating and they said it should be working, the thermostat was working but not the radiators. I found 2 electric heaters in the mezzanine floor which worked great and that made the house a lot warmer. If it wasn't for them I would of at to go home. I woke up 1 morning and noticed when I was opening the curtains that the downstairs window was open a bit off its latch, I think locked latches should be installed for safety. There was no curtains or blinds in the kitchen so I didn't feel good about that, specially at night.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; We are pleased that you found the Old Chapel a lovely Cottage in a lovely setting. To respond to the other points: Central Heating - A new central heating system was installed in March 2015. This has worked well since installation and is used Sept to April. The central heating was working the night before the holiday commenced. We received a call on Saturday night to say that you could not get the central heating working. We explained how to set it via the thermostat etc. and that if there were any problems please let us know. We did not hear anything else until the Weds when you rang and said that you couldn't get it working. We sent somebody round on the Thurs who confirmed that a part had gone in the central heating boiler. The part is on order and will be fitted immediately when it arrives. The other heaters are a backup system in the event that we ever had a problem with the boiler and so that holidaymakers would not be left without any heat. In addition the wood burner is very effective. Cleaning - We have had a word with our cleaner. Curtains in kitchen - We will look at providing curtains or blinds in the kitchen within the next month. Security locks to windows - We will not be providing security locks to all the windows. We have had the property 14 yrs. and never had a problem in this respect.

We enjoyed our stay at the Old Chapel, very minor point was that the towels were too small, only bath towels provided, we went out and bought a bath sheet each. The kitchen was very well equipped and the mezzanine seating area was a great place to escape from the telly. The owner was very friendly and pleasant on the phone in all our queries and dealings with them.

The property had not been properly cleaned when we arrived but after contacting the owners we learnt that they had been let down by a temporary cleaner and they compensated us for this by paying for us to have a meal out in Ludlow. The cottage is lovely in style but unfortunately the twin bedroom smells strongly of damp. The garden is a great space for sitting out in and was ideal for my dog.

There are some lovely walks and views from the Old Chapel. Following the refit this year (2015) there are some nice new touches and features. A bit cosy for 4 I would imagine but perfect for 2-3 people.
