Too many steps for elderly guests and the living room is a bit dark, but overall a nice house and well appointed. We enjoyed next door's pigs and the TV was a good size. Everything was comfortable and it was convenient for all local sites and amenities

Excellent accommodation for a family with 3 generations. Only a slight issue is the ability to park a vehicle. We hired a small minibus and it was a nightmare manoeuvring into the courtyard and there was no where to leave it outside. The cottage was lovely and the children enjoyed watching the pigs across the stream and the rabbits and weasels in the garden. Would certainly go back if I was holidaying in Northumberland

We stayed in the Old Byre as a family group of 7 adults - two married couples, two sons/brothers and a grandmother. The accommodation was lovely and spacious but felt as if it was really designed for two couples each with one or two children as the two twin rooms (with shared bathroom) felt like "kids' rooms". The kitchen was well designed and well equipped with good quality cutlery, crockery and glasses. However, the pots and pans, cooker, fridges and freezer were all a bit under-sized when trying to cater for 7 hungry and thirsty adults! Lovely huge sitting room and conservatory with comfortable furniture. Bedrooms are only OK - the exception being on the first floor, which is lovely. My wife says she wants one just like it, complete with its unusual and stylish furniture. There is only one (almost) en-suite bathroom - with a slipper bath that's more attractive than useful. Because of this, there was a lot of pressure on the one good shower. Outside was an attractive and well maintained garden with good quality furniture. It overlooks a stream (the fish were jumping, the birds were singing and the pigs were rootling on the opposite bank!) and - boring but necessary - a drying area and plenty of parking space. We all loved it! We all loved the area. We all want to go back NOW!
