The owners in the farmhouse opposite couldn't be nicer! The eggs are fantastic! The Bull Pen is small but has everything you need. The kitchen is well equipped and the living room is lovely. The only complaint I would have is the bathroom. It has carpet on the floor. The Bull Pen was a little chilly for my liking, although the heating was on Eco and a little damp due to the bathroom which caused an odor! There is a nice enclosed outside space to sit. No internet so be prepared. Also, the owner has dogs that roam free, which is fine and the drive is really only suitable for 4x4 as not a finished driveway.

Cottage was okay but location is terrible. It is right in the middle of the egg production sheds. 3.5tonne lorries outside your door every day and articulated lorries occasionally. Forklift trucks working just outside. PRIVATE parking is in an area of land used by all the farm workers. Two dogs run around all the time. We were there for 14 nights and were not offered a change of bedding or clean towels. Felt very much that the holiday cottage was an after thought.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review, I am sorry you were not happy with our holiday cottage. It is in the heart of our working farm as stated in the information when booking online. We do have dogs as many farms do and this is their home. Clean bedding is ironed and ready for your use under the bed in the bedroom as stated in our owner welcome booklet. Our car parking area is a private car park for the farm and holiday let and plenty big enough for both your large transit van and your saloon car.

Disappointing due to very poor condition of sofa and having to clean the property upon leaving.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your review. Our sofa is an older sofa but a very comfortable one. We ask that guests leave the cottage similar to how they found it. As you had dogs we assume you would have had to clean the cottage after them.

I really liked the old Bull pen. I loved the surroundings, the chooks and the remoteness. I think for some people that would come as a bit of a surprise. It was comfy, clean and had all I wanted.

My fault . We wanted somewhere a bit more upmarket really. It would not take much to improve the scores. The problems were; -no welcome pack (owner appeared on the Thursday night -too late- we were leaving the next morning) - scruffy outside (dilapidated table and BBQ- weeds in flags- dead plants-cover off gas/electricity meter on the floor)- stagnant pool with open access just outside the building - no water pressure from hot tap in bathroom - lounge furniture needs an up lift - long drive has potholes in it which could easily be filled - rules said hoover all floors before leaving Just a general lack of attention really Kitchen was well equipped

Response on behalf of the owner; Thank you for your comments. Our pricing does reflect that we are a 3 star holiday let on a pretty little farm in the middle of no where. There is a long well used farm track to get to us that is used by all sorts of farm vehicles including cars. We are not always here to receive guests and the holiday let is always left ready and open for this very reason. We do water the plants on change over day but unfortunately many others don't and during a dry summer the plants do look tired. We have refurbished the cottage kitchen and sitting room in January 2018 and the pictures will soon be updated on Cottages.com website.

Great time had very quiet but long drive a bit rough adds to the charm. Good sized garden enclosed for dogs. Fresh eggs a bonus.

The Old Bull Pen is very private although it is in the middle of the farm. I love the fields full of chickens and sheep. The garden is secure for the dogs and the new bench is lovely. The new hob is very good too. I have a little trouble with the shower as I have to sit down and it is a tight fit for my shower seat.(I am a double amputee) A plastic garden chair in there would be perfect. That is the only problem I have as a disabled person as it is all on one level although someone in a wheelchair would not manage the doors.

My wife and I enjoyed a stress free break in this lovely, out of the way cottage. Small but with everything you would need for an enjoyable break from our usual mundane existence. The bread, eggs and milk left for us by the owners was very welcome and gave us time to visit the local supermarket to get what we needed. If it's peace and quiet you want, this is the place for you. A very enjoyable week.😁
