English Country Cottages

An inspiring collection of properties chosen for their character, luxury and heritage, all graded 4 star and above.

Character, beamed barn with wood floors, Blickling Hall close by, Norwich with its castle and market town of Reepham nearby.

Nestled down a quiet country lane on the owner’s working farm, The Old Barn is light and airy, and beautifully placed to provide the perfect setting from which to explore all that the area has to offer. The bustling market town of Reepham offering a range of shops and eateries is close by, as is one of Norfolk’s top visitor attractions, The Blickling Estate, with its splendid hall, which was once the home of the Boleyn family. With beaches in nearly all directions, you will be spoilt for choice. Cromer boasts a glorious sandy beach, a famous promenade and pier, which still offers a traditional end of pier show and has a host of cafés, and the market town of Sheringham with its shingle beach and over 1000 acres of parkland boasts 3 species of deer and numerous walks. Blakeney, with its picturesque quay, offers trips out to see the seals in the natural habitat, and Wells-next-the-Sea has a narrow gauge railway and a quaint mix of artisan and traditional seaside shops. For all the fun of the fair, plan a day out to Great Yarmouth, with its golden mile of seafront attractions and Pleasure Beach. Or, head to Hunstanton, with its Sealife Centre and a beach that really does seem to go on forever. If something more natural has more appeal, don’t miss out on spending a day or two exploring the Norfolk Broads where you can join an organised boat trip or even skipper your own launch as you explore the waterways, discovering the wildlife. Fishing available 1 mile away, daily ticket applicable with fishing licence. The medieval city of Norwich is also well worth visiting and has a splendid Norman castle, numerous museums, shops and restaurants to explore. Reepham, 1½ miles, a pretty market town with shops, cafes, pubs and a market day every Wednesday, selling local fresh produce. Great days out for the families visit the Dinosaur Park at Lenwade, 2 miles. BeWilDerwood, Horning 16½ miles. Amazona Zoo at Cromer 18½ miles and Pensthorpe Park 14½ miles. With all this on offer plus numerous stately homes and National Trust properties, fabulous bird watching opportunities at RSPB sites, gentle, scenic walks and cycling routes including Marriotts Way, and great places to eat, many of which use fresh, seasonal, local produce and you can see why you will probably need to return to The Old Barn again to make sure that you see everything that’s on offer. Shops and pub 1 mile.

Perfect family accommodation, Reepham is a few minutes away by car and has everything you need. Barry and Liz are always on hand should you need them. Have stayed three times and will be booking again for 2017! Don't hesitate to book!

A clean spacious property which perfectly suited our party of five spanning three generations. In a great location easily accessible to many attractions.

Really enjoyable stay for extended family of 6. More garden furniture, perhaps an umberella , more comfortable seat or two in garden. Sometimes family orientated places provide a few robust indoor and outdoor toys for children, we knew they didn't so we took our own, but extra packing. Our only real disappointment was the dishwasher it is not full size and struggles with a family load and who wants to wash dishes on holiday. However minor grumbles really as we enjoyed our stay. The internet connection was very reliable!

As long as you know this is "rural" and you have to open/close gate on entry/exit, you are in for a treat! Tucked away on the farm is this lovely barn without constant access to the outside word in terms of strong mobile/wifi connection. Personally I go on holiday to escape the madness of the electronic world we live in! Barry and Liz were just charming and Liz is more than a little talented when it comes to the treats she left for us! We had glorious weather but even if we didn't, watching the rabbits/deer/birds were an absolute joy! The accommodation was perfect for our party and I would most definitely revisit The Old Barn, if circumstances permit.

Great place! Really comfortable beds, and rooms are all a good size. Kids loved the enclosed garden, and with three rooms downstairs, there is room for everyone at any time of the day.

The lovely friendly owners were helpful and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The property is spacious, well appointed and spotlessly clean. Tucked away behind the farm buildings we felt we were a million miles from the rest of the world, yet it was only a mile to Reepham and a great pub. We all loved the tranquility of the garden room, with the doors open to the garden a drink and a book it was heaven. For our stay cycle storage was important, we needn't have worried the cycle shed is discreet and secure. We would definitely stay again.

This was our 2nd visit to The Old Barn (1st time late 2015), a repeat booking speaks for itself. This is a home from home, very comfortable, lots of safe indoor and outside space for a young family, supported with stairgates for peace of mind. Very nice to have some new lounge and sunroom furniture, really sets the place off. Barry and Liz provide a warm welcome and are nearby for an support needed. Totally recommend this property, we are beginning to get to know this area of Norfolk, we have already booked for later this year.
