Spacious family house, ideal for larger groups, Antique Doll Toy Museum close by, Ryde and Sandown short drive.

The Old Bakery dates back to the 17th century with a Victorian addition that once formed a shop front, so the property is surprisingly spacious and full of character interest. Semi-detached, it lies in the heart of the village of Brading with its historic church, stocks and bullring and Antique Doll/Toy museum. There are tearooms and pubs serving food, a fish and chip shop, general store open until late every day, and a post office. The larger towns of Ryde and Sandown are a 5-10 minute drive away, with sandy beaches and many seafront attractions. Open countryside is only a 2 minute walk from the house. Nunwell House and the Roman Villa are within walking distance. Brading Station is served by old London tube trains which link up with the steam railway. There is a sheltered walled garden, suitable for children, though they should be supervised. There are lawns, shrubs, fruit trees and a small, decked area. It is an ideal holiday property for families, a good base from which to explore the island by car, and for walkers, has the attraction of having the round-the-island bus service nearby to extend their range. The island is noted for its network of footpaths and cycle tracks through varied countryside, often along disused railway lines. Shop 20 yards, pub 25 yards.

We enjoyed coming back after 8 years. There was plenty of room for 6 adults, a ten year old, an eight year old and 2 one year olds. The provision of a travel cot as well as a normal cot was also an added bonus. Plus we realised we could survive without WiFi!!

Catered for our group of 10 very nicely. A lovely old building with interesting history. Only 1 bathroom to share between us and 1 small shower room which was attached to the single room at the rear of the main house was probably the only mild inconvenience. The house was very cold when we arrived, but we soon managed to heat it up with the modern heating system and the woodburner in the living room. The place had a lived in, homely feel and we would be happy to return if ever we were back in the area for a break.
