Cottage should have had a good clean before our arrival. The oven was full of grease causing oven to smoke and smoke alarm to go off. Cutlery, plates and pans in the cupboard had to be washed before use (covered in dried food) Carpets and furniture covered in dog hairs. Windows dirty. Towels smelt stale and bed had yellow stain on mattress. WIFI hit and miss (more miss) On the good side if you want rural location and an enclosed garden for your dog.. You got it.

Response on behalf of the owner:- This is the first bad review we have received in 7 years. My 3 properties are looked after by myself and my parents – we do not have outside cleaners, we are a completely family run business and as a result of this we are able to offer guests a friendlier, personal holiday experience. We pride ourselves on our cleanliness and upkeep of our properties. We live on the same premises and always say to guests that if they have a problem or question or need us for anything, just to knock on our door – we are always here, unfortunately these guests did not and reading this review has really upset us all. The cottage did have a good clean before their arrival. The oven was not full of grease – that also had a good clean before their arrival; the ovens are all cleaned spotlessly on the day the guest’s changeover and then twice a year we get an oven cleaning company in to thoroughly steam clean them. The cutlery, plates, pans etc. are all checked every changeover day – if there is any food residue left on anything, we wash it! I put all the cottages’ crockery/cutlery etc. through my own dishwasher monthly. The carpets and furniture are vacuumed with a pet hoover and we use a dog de odourising spray every changeover day – we make sure there are never any dog hairs left. The windows are cleaned every changeover day – we also have proper window cleaners in monthly. The towels (and bedding) are washed every changeover day by me, they are always fresh. There is not a stain on the mattress – we have quilted mattress protector covers on all the mattresses which are also washed every changeover day with the sheets. I wouldn’t expect our guests to strip the bed, it’s our job, and they’re on holiday! Wi-Fi - our Wi-Fi is hit and miss which is why we don’t advertise any.

The welcome pack was a lovely touch and this along with the welcome received from Sue on arrival made us feel relaxed and at home straight away. The Nook has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The enclosed garden was particularly helpful as our dog could have some free time to herself sniffing where the rabbits had been and we knew she was safe pottering around out there whilst we were cooking breakfast. An altogether fabulous holiday which we were sad to come home from. Thank you

We would highly recommend the Nook for a holiday. We visited with our two dogs who loved the spacious garden which is fully enclosed. The cottage was well furnished, had a very comfortable bed and was well equipped. We have left the comment re: local amenities blank due to the remoteness of the location. However, there are many amenities in the area within half an hour drive. The nearest local shops is 4 miles away; larger supermarkets are half an hour drive. The owner is very friendly and is available for any problems that might occur. Intend to visit again.
