Despite comments made by other reviewers, we found the cottage to be very homely. The owner, Hannah, was very welcoming and pointed us in the right direction for our interests. The fire in the sitting area was a boon in the evenings (late September).

A friendly welcome with home made bread and scones from the owner got our stay off to a good start. The rustic cottage was comfortable for our needs, though the total (except for the shower room) open plan design was not ideal. The storage heaters made the cottage warm, but by the nature of such heaters difficult to control. The interior design made the house dusty and "cobwebby": not a problem for us, but could be an issue with other guests! We did not spend a great deal of time in the property as we were busy touring round the stunningly beautiful Cork and Kerry: the cottage was ideally situated to explore the area.

Lovely welcome from Hannah with personal touches like bread, butter, milk, tea etc on arrival and a homely greeting. Personal interest taken in how the stay was going without interfering. The views from the cottage are outstanding - absolutely stunning - cannot do it justice in a review. Our dog, Doug, loved it and the area around the site is superb for walks and is an easy short walk over the bridge to town too. Kenmare itself was great with a dog too - he was happy trotting around like he had lived there all his doggy life! The access to Kenmare and the Ring of Kerry and the Wild Atlantic Way was excellent. The peat fire was a great bonus too and the cottage was very cosy in terms of heat and comfort as we went in April when the weather was very changeable. We wholeheartedly recommend Muxnaw and will definitely be going back. Thank you for a great stay.
