Peaceful setting and one of the most convenient locations for exploring Cornwall - perfect for families and couples all year round.

Higher Laity Farm is set in a peaceful rural location, on a working dairy and cattle farm. The three barns (refs 29750, 29751 and 29752) have been renovated to a very good standard and are managed by the owners. It is ideally situated to take advantage of both the spectacular rugged north coast being just a few minutes’ drive from the popular surfing beaches of Portreath and Porthtowan. Porthowan is a delightful cove, famous for its bar on the beach which provides good food and a regular music entertainment programme, popular with locals and surfers alike. For those wishing to explore on foot or cycling, the Mineral Tramways Coastal Path runs from North Portreath on the north coast to Devoran on the south coast, providing spectacular scenery. Cornwall’s heritage can be seen, with old engine houses dotted around the landscape and there is abundance of wildlife, including jackdaws, birds of prey, and cormorants. At sea, dolphins, basking sharks, seals and even whales can be seen. Just a few minutes’ drive away, is Tehiddy Country Park, a tranquil 250-acre site with woodlands, lakes, cycle trails, nature paths and the impressive golf course. Nearby Portreath offers a good selection of local shops amenities, as well as a great sandy family-friendly beach and amazing coastal walks. The South Coastal Path leads on to Godrevy lighthouse and Gwithian beach, then it continues down to the wide expanse of sand dunes and Hayle Estuary. Take the scenic coastal train from nearby St Erth in to St Ives with its picturesque harbour and art galleries, including the Tate Modern and Barbara Hepworth Museum. The area is buzzing with restaurants, cafes, shops and art galleries. The proximity of Higher Laity Farm to the A30 makes it an ideal base to explore the many sides of Cornwall. It is just 30 minutes to the busy port and town of Falmouth, home of the National Maritime Museum and wonderful coves and beaches. Numerous sub-tropical gardens attract visitors all year round including Trebah, Durgan and Trelissike. The owner of the property contacted us on our way down to Cornwall to let us know that we had the choice of either the 'Loft' or the 'Byre'. As we had two dogs, we chose the 'Byre' over the 'Loft' as it was on the ground floor, giving us direct access through the back door to the enclosed garden. The property was immaculate and we kept it that way by putting our own dog blankets on the sofas to keep them clean. The property is a few minutes from the A30 making it an ideal to explore West Cornwall by car.

Well equipped kitchen, with very welcome supplies of coffee/tea/soap/dishwasher tabs/powder etc. Everything spotless. Good heating, comfy beds. Steep stone steps leading to the door - only an issue for elderly. No lock on the window of room with the bunkbeds (so a little worried our small children would open the high window). We visited in winter so not an issue, but perhaps in summer they could do with some outdoor play equipment in the garden. In the middle of a working farm; kids loved seeing the horses/cows/pigs/chickens. We would return!
