What a gorgeous retreat. Décor made us feel at home straight away with lots of femine touches. Well done. Although we took everything, yes everything we could think of, it was available in `The Lodge`. Would not hesitate to re-book and would highly recommend it. It was a break from city life with total privacy and tranquillity. Did not go out so do not know about the local amenities, sorry!

Would use again. Too many things to list about the property, rats or nice in the loft above the bedroom so couldn't sleep, fridge was mouldy, bed knob was dangerous, to was dangerous. Hot tub didn't work. You cannot call the owners as they never answer there phone, also the signal at the so called lodge is shocking

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. It's very disappointing that these guests didn't tell me about the problems when I spoke to them on the Saturday evening. They rang to say that there was no hot water, I apologised and advised I had totally forgot to turn the switch on and then explained to them where the switch was, they replied that it wasn’t a problem as they had hot water, it had only just run out. The guest then mentioned that the hot tub wasn't up to temperature and asked me to ask the hot tub chap for a full refund, I advised this was very strange as it was hot on Friday. I find it very odd that they didn't mention any of their other problems to me then. The noise the guests heard in the loft are Rock Doves, which are on the endangered list and they are nesting there, we are conservationists and don't want to kill / disturb them. There are moorhens, ducks, herons and kingfishers that visit the pond too. Regarding the fridge, there isn’t mould, something had been spilt and whatever it may have been was trapped between the door and the shelf, it’s now been bleached and looks perfect. The cleaner hadn't noticed it before so can only presume it happened during their stay. The lodge took minutes to heat up when it was cleaned and left for their use at 3pm on Friday, it was hot and it was still hot when cleaned again on the Monday.

Our break was nice. We were frustrated with the electricity charge and hot tub hire charge on top of the booking fees etc. The fridge had gone of milk in it when we arrived which wasn't great. Apart from that Location was superb and lodge was cosy if not a little cold.

This is a little gem of a place nestled away in lovely surroundings. The peace, privacy and surroundings are a dream. If you need to recharge your batteries this is the place to go. Book the hot tub, it is the icing on the cake. We really loved our week away, thank you Sue & Co.., Dawn & John x

Lovely location and perfect size for a couple. Cleanliness was poor - mould in the bathroom (shower cubicle, tiles, grout, skirting boards and walls), bedroom curtains very dusty, used cotton bud in the wardrobe, fridge needed cleaning and the freezer compartment dripped on to the shelves/food in the fridge below, kitchen bin had brown fluid in the bottom. One of the oven hobs did not work and had to wash most of the cutlery before using. The cleanliness was a real shame as this place could be wonderful.

Ok... First all of the location is amazing. Absolutely amazing. However, there were a few things for future holiday makers to consider. Please look through previous reviews..... We are all saying the same thing, and yet the same problems exist. We arrived on a Friday evening after a busy day at work to begin our holiday, I then spent at least an hour cleaning the crockery and over etc. TV still not working. Hob has only 3 rings working. Place needed a really good clean with some hot soapy water. Whilst I appreciate the quick turnover between guests I also appreciate the need for cleanliness. The hot tub was amazing but come at a price of £80 extra on top of holiday fee. The only communication I had with the owner of the property was a quick note left for us written on the back of an envelope asking for us to water the plants. Let me once again stress... The location was amazing and even with all the things I have said above I am still considering booking again for next year. Oh and a sign of the gate would be really helpful to welcome your guests. Hope this helps you make your decision.

The lodge is a beautiful little find. Nestled away with its own entrance off the owners grounds and gorgeous views of the paddocks and fields outside your window. Sitting on the decking overlooking the pond in the sun was beautiful and the owners were really friendly. Hot tub was great and enjoyed it every night. Definitely would stay again.

Can't get in before 3, so we get there at 3-40 and it's still not ready. Tv doesn't work, and the stand it sits on is missing. It's hard to find, and I'm not alone in saying that if you read the reviews in the book. It's a great location, fortunately. With a lot more effort it could be spectacular. As it stands now I wouldn't go again.
