We loved our stay at the lodge and would definitely go back. The outlook on to the pond was beautiful. The weather was quite good to us so we were able to sit on the veranda and enjoy the sunshine. The photos don't do this lodge justice, there is a 2 seater settee and chair then another chair all very comfy. The shower is powerful and the bed very comfy. The main thing for us was to relax have peace and quiet and we definitely got that.

This cottage could have been so much better if the owners actually took proper care in cleaning and showed they wanted to make their guests welcome. The welcome pack consisted of seven custard creams on a plate with coffee in a jar which would have only been enough for one mug each, as well as tea bags but no milk. Bed linen smelt damp, cooker dirty inside and the hob light didn't work. Frozen compartment in the fridge was full of ice with some old lollies left inside. No cleaning under the bed or sideboard. Wanted to put the towel rail on and found the switch hidden behind the wardrobe. Glass in the four doors overlooking the pond had not been cleaned. There is not an enclosed garden, it's a driveway. The outside bin was removed on Tuesday and still hadn't been returned when we left on Friday. Out of respect for the owners and future guests i had bagged and binned any dog mess but was forced to leave several bags where the bin had been. We only used the lodge as a base and i was disgusted to return to find dog mess on the grass area directly outside the lodge, obviously from the owners dogs. I had to clear some of it up to avoid us and our dog walking in it. This could have been avoided if the owners had but wire on the metal gates by the lodge to stop their dogs messing on the grass by the hot tub. It is a quiet area and with some attention to detail our stay could have been much more enjoyable.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Unfortunately I was on holiday and was relying on my lady cleaner, who I have had recommended to me and I’ve used in the past with no problems whatsoever. Not sure on the quantity of biscuits that was left but I know for sure the jar of coffee was 2/3 full as this was checked, there’s a jar of coffee mate too. The towel rail switch is positioned behind the wardrobe but it is very easy to access, just a matter of putting your hand 2" behind and flicking the switch. The glass on the four doors is cleaned every changeover however if there is a wind, the fountain water does spray a little onto the doors and it does leave a slight lime discolouration, this is a rural setting and the Lodge is rustic, it does not mean that the windows have not been attended to. I wasn't aware that the outside wheelie bin had not been replaced; however it is now in position. We expect all dog owners to bag their dog mess, as in any public place, our dogs were not here during their stay, as we were on holiday ourselves, so I really don't know where the dog mess that they found directly outside the lodge would have come from, (maybe they missed their own dog mess), even when we are in residence our dogs never visit that side of the property. The bed was made the morning of their arrival so really don't understand how it could have smelt damp.

We really enjoyed our weekend here it was quite and peaceful, and we needed the break so much, the picture of the lodge is misleading as you cant go anywhere past the decked area,to perhaps sun bathe if weather was nice,or sit next to the lake ,I've lowered the score for the price for that reason only ,its beautiful inside and does have what you need for just a weekend but there is no washing machine if you planned to stay longer,it was lovely and clean and the bed and sofa are really comfortable, the owners do not come and greet you or bother you ,they leave you to get on with it which is how we prefer it

if you want peace and quiet perfect but no nice walks around for dogs got to get in car and search for somewhere. nearest shop or pub you will not find without a car miles away. owners dogs(3) roaming round free keep coming around the lodge which annoyed our dog as we were told to keep our dog on lead at all times.picture deceiving all those fields are not for walking on. just didnt meet our needs with a dog who likes to walk for miles.

When I arrived on the Friday there was Mouldy cobs in the bread bin which were 4 days out of date, the fridge was dripping wet, the freezer compartment was froze solid and it needed replacing, the microwave was rusty and the PAT test was out of date, the French doors looking out on to the lake were so dirty I had to clean them so I could see outside. On the Saturday I had no hot water so I did phone the owner and left a message but they never got back to me so had to do with out hot water the whole of my stay. There were rips in the laminate flooring in the living room. The surroundings are beautiful but the Lodge needs updating especially for the amount of money they are charging.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner:- Thank you for your comments and we are pleased you enjoyed our location ..I can only apologise about the bread in this was when I was away on holiday and we had someone in to do our cleaning no excuse it should have been checked, we are aware about the slight rip under the sofa this is going to be replace during the winter season when we haven’t got any guest staying ,also the windows are cleaned on a weekly basis but the spray from the lake sometimes leaves marks on the windows ,the fridge is in full working order unless the door had been left open ,we have now replace the microwave .

Great location /secluded and private, however the actual lodge was a bit tired and in need of some TLC. eg,picnic table outside, dead plant in pot,dvd player, not always working, electric tripped as well. good points were ,fab shower, lots of hot water, outlook over the pond was beautiful, good walks close by the, comfy bed and sofa, good selection of books and games.

Lovely place, hard to fault the lodge. Hot tub was poorly located on the driveway, surrounded by stinging nettles and the extra money wanted for its use was a rip off.

Really enjoyed our holiday here! (April 17) beautiful location although could do with a sign at the gateway because you easily drive past! However very peaceful and lots of wildlife to see! The lodge had a great range of amenities however although bed linen and towels were provided we only had one bath towel between us! Overall a nice place to stay! And we would definitely recommend visiting Bourton on the water! Beautiful village!

What a gorgeous retreat. Décor made us feel at home straight away with lots of femine touches. Well done. Although we took everything, yes everything we could think of, it was available in `The Lodge`. Would not hesitate to re-book and would highly recommend it. It was a break from city life with total privacy and tranquillity. Did not go out so do not know about the local amenities, sorry!

Would use again. Too many things to list about the property, rats or nice in the loft above the bedroom so couldn't sleep, fridge was mouldy, bed knob was dangerous, to was dangerous. Hot tub didn't work. You cannot call the owners as they never answer there phone, also the signal at the so called lodge is shocking

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. It's very disappointing that these guests didn't tell me about the problems when I spoke to them on the Saturday evening. They rang to say that there was no hot water, I apologised and advised I had totally forgot to turn the switch on and then explained to them where the switch was, they replied that it wasn’t a problem as they had hot water, it had only just run out. The guest then mentioned that the hot tub wasn't up to temperature and asked me to ask the hot tub chap for a full refund, I advised this was very strange as it was hot on Friday. I find it very odd that they didn't mention any of their other problems to me then. The noise the guests heard in the loft are Rock Doves, which are on the endangered list and they are nesting there, we are conservationists and don't want to kill / disturb them. There are moorhens, ducks, herons and kingfishers that visit the pond too. Regarding the fridge, there isn’t mould, something had been spilt and whatever it may have been was trapped between the door and the shelf, it’s now been bleached and looks perfect. The cleaner hadn't noticed it before so can only presume it happened during their stay. The lodge took minutes to heat up when it was cleaned and left for their use at 3pm on Friday, it was hot and it was still hot when cleaned again on the Monday.

Our break was nice. We were frustrated with the electricity charge and hot tub hire charge on top of the booking fees etc. The fridge had gone of milk in it when we arrived which wasn't great. Apart from that Location was superb and lodge was cosy if not a little cold.
