This is a property review: booked primarily because my husband is 'walking' disabled and requires a ground floor bedroom and bathroom with accessible shower. This aspect was satisfactory. However, the property is located on a busy minor road (an offset T junction). In reality this meant vehicles passing the property at 40+ mph and early/late commuter traffic. No peace and quiet here I am afraid. In terms of equipment, the television and remote were rather slow to respond. The wi fi was so slow that we spent most of the time watching the circle icon going round and round. The toaster was wholly inadequate, as a single slice of bread didn't fit. The Lodge is located within the owner's farmyard, with their house directly opposite. At no point did the owners bother to knock on the door and ascertain whether everything was satisfactory. If one requires a peaceful holiday, then I have to say this place is not for you. I think the owners should be honest about its location - there is no way to check this until the actual address is advised on full payment. Is it time to give out the precise location at the point of booking rather than just a pin on a map?

We loved our stay at the lodge it was the perfect location for exploring the Forest of Dean. Although there was much work going on in the Forest to improve visitor attractions it did not detract from our enjoyment. We particularly liked the trip on the steam train and would have ventured to use the mainline services from Lydney but we could not find a parking space as it is obviously a well used commuter service to Gloucester and beyond. We drove to Gloucester instead which was a pity, maybe a larger car park will be considered for the future.

Lovely cottage, well equipped, warm and comfortable. (Slight problem with very squeaky floorboards in the upstairs bedroom.) Owners friendly and helpful, particularly Dave, who showed us round the farm and was a great hit with our granddaughter. Good base for seeing the area as there was plenty to see and do.

A beautifully designed cottage containing everything you need for a relaxing holiday. It's in a lovely area, with plenty of things to do locally. The only, very minor, downside for us was the temperamental wi-fi connection.

Cosy and comfortable cottage, very nicely renovated to a high standard. Disappointed to find the wifi charge was £5 per device. Downstairs beds were very comfortable but duvets not warm enough. Good location close to the Forest and easy access.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you found the property to be cosy and comfortable. Regarding the Wi-Fi, I believe the charge was only for the one device and no more. We have in the last few weeks stopped charging. We can only apologise that you were charged and would hope this would not deter you from returning.

Overall the cottage was very nice and spacious. A few bits could be nicer such as more glasses in the kitchen and only a limited amount of toilet paper was left for five people. The pillows in the downstairs bedroom definitely needed changing too as they had lost shape and worryingly smelt sweaty! We didn't rate the local area and facilities but it would be a great location if you were cycling or walking.
