After 6 hours journey on 1st of July 2017, I was very disapointed on entering "The Little Blue House" in Penzance for my holiday with my wife. Mould, mildew, smell and dirt was obvious and I feel more effort could have been made on the cottage side. For the price I have paid is not what I expected to spend my holiday in Cornwall.

The Little Blue House is located very conveniently just about 5 mins walk from the train/bus station so is great for a car free holiday. There is plenty to do in Penzance and places close by whether you choose to walk or use public transport. The cottage itself is very comfortable and well-equipped and close to the shops and harbour. We enjoyed our 2 week holiday very much and the weather was ok too.

We had a comfortable and warm stay and would go again. The house was immaculate and the flowers were a very welcoming touch. Only a few small niggles, not enough cutlery and only one shelf in the oven. We were able to cope with this as there were only the two of us staying but a family could have problems. The beds were comfortable which is a great plus! The courtyard garden is lovely and would be great in warmer weather.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you, your helpful comments have been acted on. There is now even more cutlery and I’ve put another shelf in the oven. All sorted when we went down ourselves, we also now have a lovely new work top and kitchen sink - plus new fitted carpet in the sitting room.

I found the house cold on arrival. It was difficult to get in through the back gate because of a loose panel on it. The kitchen floor was not clean enough - near to the back door. A draught from the kitchen made keeping the sitting room warm a problem because there was not a door between them. In spite of instructions about use of oven - it was not possible to light it without use of matches. Upstairs was better. The bedrooms were well-equipped and it was possible to warm them effectively. The bathroom was satisfactory. I chose to rent the house because of proximity to my family but I wouldn't have chosen it for a holiday because I found the sitting room rather dark. Lack of parking space is obviously an insuperable problem. Proximity to town centre was an advantage and the local area was quiet.

Response on behalf of the Owner; Thank you for your comments about The Little Blue House. As I'm sure you are aware when you booked, it does not have central heating. I'm sorry you felt cold, usually with the gas fire on in the kitchen, the sitting room gas fire on and the sitting room door closed it quite cosy. As you found all the bedrooms are warm as there are heaters in each one. The oven (as it says in the cottage info) can be awkward to light, even though our gas engineer has checked it over, so we supply matches in one of the kitchen drawers. I apologise if the back door kitchen floor was not sparkling this has never happened before. I will look in to it. Yes the back gate has developed a problem and I am going to have a new one fitted when I go down shortly. As to the sitting room, well it's an old cottage and they can be a bit dark. However there are two sets of three spotlights each end of the room, plus two table lamps, if you want to go the whole hog there are strip lights over the shelves as well! I'm sorry about the parking; we could do with more residents parking in Penzance. Normally we recommend in the paperwork received by guests prior to their stay that it’s best to use the 'ring go's parking for the car park by the bus and train station. Call them or e mail, pay for and book a space for the week.
