We've had a lovely relaxing week & were very lucky with the weather. Plenty of good walks with the dogs. Hadrians Wall & forts very close by. Lots of good pubs & a beautiful cottage to come back to after a hard days exploring! Our only suggestion would be a shower screen or curtain over the bath. The owners Jane & Bruce are very friendly & we wouldn't hesitate in coming back.

The joinery is a lovely quiet cottage in a remote area and very quaint. We really enjoyed our stay and our two dogs had a great time also. When we arrived Jane was sadly on holiday but her friends and family were so helpful and accommodating. We did see Jane on the last day who was lovely. If you want a great location with stunning views this is the place to visit. You do need a car to get about.

Very disappointed, we left early because the property is not clean at all. We noticed cobwebs and at at least 10 spiders in the rafters, and the bed is located on the mezzanine so these are 4 feet from your face when you sleep. The owners were kind enough to remove the big ones (the small ones one matter because apparently "you can't see those") Furthermore there are old cobwebs behind the couch and in the corner of the room downstairs. Unable to sleep under cobwebs and spiders, we decided to open up the sofa bed. The sofa is stained with mud, and on opening it a layer of dirt fell out onto the floor. The springs have rusted and the mattress has browned. Upon voicing our concerns to the owners, we were made to feel like we were being unreasonable and the owners failed to empathise with us or acknowledge our concerns. Unable to live in uncleanliness, and with less than helpful owners, we left after 2 nights into a 4 might stay

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; The Joinery received its annual inspection by our Regional Manager on the 1st July, retaining our 4* rating for cleanliness. You were the first guests to occupy the property on the 4th July after the inspection. We tried to accommodate you to the best of our ability, going in to the property two days running to re-clean the Cottage. We are disappointed that you did not enjoy your stay at The Joinery as much as so many of our other guests, especially after all of our efforts.

Wow! Just wow! So relaxing, so peaceful. Owners thought of everything; from teabags to toilet rolls. Stairs are steep and upstairs ceiling is low but it tells you that in the information. Beautiful area, cosy accommodation, friendly people. Highly recommend.
