One of the nicest cottages we have stayed in. At first the work shed next to the cottage made it seem like a forgotten "hideaway" but we soon warmed to the location and our genial hosts Phil and Gill. The weather helped greatly. It was so warm we looked for the cool interior of the stone-flagged floored lounge on a few occasions! The gardens were superb and our dog Bertie loved chasing rabbits in and around the bushes. We relaxed in the hot tub and cooked barbecued meals to eat at the garden table under the umbrella. We travelled around the island for the first few days then visited Ventnor, Shanklin and Sandown which were very easy to get to with a very short car ride. Gill's cakes kept our energy going. The kitchen was very well equipped with tea, coffee etc as well as such things as washing up liquid, washing powder, dishwasher tablets and towels. On our arrival we had tea and cakes on the lawn and found a welcome note in the cottage alongside a bottle of Merlot. We also had an unexpected surprise when our hosts offered an extra week for free as the cottage had not been booked! We stayed an extra 3 days and sadly left all too early due to commitments at home. We can't thank our hosts enough for their hospitality and would wholeheartedly recommend this cottage to anyone.

In a lovely quiet location with sea views, a pleasant well maintained garden with a hot tub. Close to the coastal footpath. The cottage was very comfortable well maintained and well equiped. The hosts Phil and Gill made us very welcome.

We had a great week at the hideaway. The cottage was very well equipped, clean and cosy. Phillp and Gill were lovely hosts greeting us with tea and home made cakes. They were very tolerant of our inquisitive black lab! The hot tub was lovely even on cool evenings. The location is great on the south coast of the island with nowhere very far way. Plenty of local walks. It's only 5 minutes walk down to the coastal path and the highest point on IoW is just up from the cottage. Wifi available but best reception sitting at the top of the stairs or in the bathroom!

We have just come back from staying at The Hideaway and can honestly say we didn't want to leave. Jill and Philip were lovely greeting us with tea and cake in the lawn. The cottage was gorgeous and the location just perfect. We will definitely be back. My children loved playing in the garden with Cassie the dog and we were always asked how our day had been. Jill and Philip you have a beautiful home and The Hideaway is just wonderful xx Emma, Steve, Harry and Maisie xx

On arrival we were shown round the cottage and have to say very disappointed indeed. First impressions were it smelt like a very old church/garage, even my 8 yr old daughter remarked on it. That smell had got into the fabric of the building, so everything was the same. It felt like we were tucked away out the back as a nuisance, no view back or front down stairs and very dark inside. The kitchen was one of the worse we have had, in all the cottages we have stayed in, kitchen side supported from bits of wood stuffed underneath, dirty antiquated oven, kitchen surfaces repaired with filler, dirty joints in the kitchen worktops, old home made cupboard doors with chicken wire on! Rock hard uncomfortable mattress, smelly main bedroom. All in all hugely disappointed. We did try looking for alternative accomodation but as it was mid August nothing available. We feel that this owners cottage is very poor value for the price we paid. This property needs stripping out and totally modernising. To anyone reading this review - don't go there. Only positives are Cassie the lovely dog and the home made cakes when you arrive.
