Description

The Hayloft is located in a rural area with plenty of attractions locally for all ages.

Located deep in the heart of an attractive rural area, these two holiday cottages enjoy a peacefully idyllic setting by the tumbling Fochy burn. A striking mill conversion, the Waulkmill Cottages retain original beams and offer beautifully furnished ‘upside-down’ style accommodation, which has been equipped to a high standard. Standing as a pair, they each boast private patios, and benefit from shared use of large woodland and grounds, complete with a hard tennis court and a games room. They lie just 3 miles from the shores of Loch Leven and Lochleven Castle, the island stronghold served as a prison to Mary Queen of Scots in 1567, until her escape 11 months later. Popular with fishermen, for its pink-fleshed trout, the loch is also a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, with the RSPB Nature Reserve, Vane Farm, occupying the land adjacent. Historic Perth (15 miles) offers good shopping, restaurants and a wealth of diverse attractions, whilst Edinburgh and Glasgow are within an hour’s drive. Rosyth ferry port within half an hour’s drive. Kinross (2 miles) for golf course. Riding and sailing nearby. Shop and pub serving food, 2 miles.

Modern fitted kitchen/dining room. Beamed double bedroom. Bathroom with over-bath shower and toilet. Open-tread spiral stairs to first floor: Living room with gas stove. Twin bedroom.

Beautiful cottage, my family had a great time, river out the back was unique and my daughter loved playing with her fishing net, very cosy and highly recommended

We really enjoyed our stay at Easter and the house was ideal for us, it was a good base to explore this part of Scotland

Great wee cottage - having breakfast outside in the sun beside the river was lovely!

The Hayloft is a beautiful converted cottage from an old mill, situated in typical Scottish rural countryside For my wife and I, it was perfect in every way, very quiet and peaceful. The property is located near the small town of Milnathort just off the main A9 highway roughly halfway between Perth and Edinburgh, with Glasgow and Stirling all within easy travelling distance. After visiting the main cities with their famous castles, for the history buffs a visit to nearby Loch Leven is recommended, it was an unfortunate temporary home to Mary the Queen of Scots who was imprisoned on an island in the loch, there are numerous tours to the site. The area is well supported for amenities, supplied by Milnathort and also from another small town nearby called Kinross. However for major items a trip further afield is required. There are numerous pubs, stroke hotels that supply excellent menus and at reasonable cost. For the the non historical seeking or just for a change a scenic drive is well recommended, a trip to Aberfeldy or take a boat trip on Loch Lomand, oh and don't forget to take your camera. Would we go back, yes without a doubt
