All-in-all a very good holiday experience. Our whole group had a wonderful week. We especially enjoyed the 17th century open fire place, in which we were able to have and enjoy a very large fire in the evenings. Pros: 17th century ambiance! Large open fire in the living room with firewood provided at a very reasonable price. Plenty of space. Separate dining room. Wi-fi. Cons: TV fairly old, no flat screen, no HD - although this was not particulary important for our stay. Heating and electricity bill - paid at the end of the stay - was an additional 5 - 10% of the price of the rental. We prefer all-inclusive prices, but this is just personal preference.

Our only concern is that at this time of the year the property was very cold for the first few days, night storage heaters proving expensive to raise the temperature. The cottage is quirky with an interesting history, but flagstone flooring and stone walls downstairs, plus the absence of secondary glazing, make it difficult to keep warm in the winter months. The owners were very helpful and we certainly would return in warmer clines.

A very spacious, comfortable property, ideally situated for Bath and the surrounding area.

Property: Can thoroughly recommend - Anne and Roger, the owners, could not have been more pleasant and helpful. The house was presented in very good order, with the extra surprise of a welcome pack. Comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, quirky nooks and crannies, lots of original features and a stunning lounge to greet you as you entered the property. Would have no hesitation in returning, should we stay in the area again. Location: Beautiful village and during the summer the scent from the lavender fields wafts across the green to the house. However, there are no amenities within walking distance, other than a hairdresser and pub - have to remember to shop whilst you are visiting the interesting towns surrounding Faulkland. Good centre for travelling to Wells, Shepton Mallet, Street, Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge, Bath and, a bit further afield, Bristol and Weston Super Mare.

Fantastic location, historic building, helpful but non-intrusive owners. If had to find a fault it would be the front bedroom should be a single not double.

The cottage certainly has lots of character and plenty of space but the kitchen seemed a bit badly organised and the equipment a bit dated. Wine, chocolate buscuits and roses a nice touch. Work on nearby A36 a real pain for our type of holiday and some locals drive like maniacs, (we drive on the left in the UK!) but that's clearly not the owners' fault.
