Welsh Country Cottages

From a touch of luxury to characterful heritage, experience one of our truly inspiring holiday properties.

Description

This holiday barn is ideal for a couple who wish to explore mid Wales and the array of visitor attractions nearby.

Lying peacefully in a rural location and just a stone’s throw away from the dramatic Ceredigion coastline, this row of traditional Welsh holiday barns (refs OR3, OR4 and OR5) have been sympathetically restored to a high standard, making it a perfect touring base for couples looking for an adventure. Lluest Cottages have been tastefully decorated throughout and equipped with all the appropriate amenities for an unforgettable experience. Each cottage has its own enclosed lawn garden with a patio area where guests can sit, relax and unwind whilst watching the red kites soar over the magnificent scenery or enjoy the wildlife beyond the garden in the woodlands, fields and pond areas that are part of the property. The area itself has lots to offer, including fantastic walks along the Ceredigion coastline, famous for its horseshoe coves, Iron Age settlements and sandy beaches, where bottlenose dolphins and seals can be spotted on a clear day! The picturesque harbour towns of Newquay and Aberaeron offer unblemished beaches, restaurants, boutique shopping and art galleries that are waiting to be explored. Away from the coast, Ceredigion’s countryside is just as promising, with an array of charming market towns and historic castles dotted around the county. For an adventurous day out, take a short drive to the rugged Cambrian Mountains and explore the Cors Caron Nature Reserve, which flourishes with wildlife and the historic ruins of Strata Florida Abbey, which is one of Wales’ most important historical sites. Beach 2½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.

Open-plan living/dining room with electric fire and spacious galley-style kitchen area with tiled floor. First floor: Double bedroom with 5ft bed, arrow-slit windows and en-suite bathroom with separate shower cubicle and toilet.

Despite the cottage being well fitted-out and pleasant in itself, the fact that it was next to a dumping ground for scrap metal, cars, a lorry cab, tyres, a mound of gravel and lots more really spoilt the location and the holiday for us. The scrap yard was just to the left of the marketing images on the website and we feel that the cottage was misrepresented to us.

    Response from: administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; We are very sorry and upset to hear that you were so disappointed by your stay with us. The “lorry cab” you referred to as scrap is actually our working Landrover that we use in the fields and the gravel is for paths outside the back of the barns. But the excessive wet winter weather has been against us and we cannot carry out the work while we have guests staying with us. We were surprised by the low scores for all the other areas and most confusing for us was the 5 out of 10 for cleanliness which we always pride ourselves on, having achieved 100% on the last unscheduled Hoseason's inspection. We would like to remind guests that bring their four legged friends if they are using the garden to clear up after them using the outside bin that we have provided.

The Granary was a wonderful place to stay - so quiet and peaceful and within easy reach of Aberaeron. The décor was tasteful and it was a very doggie friendly place with each unit having its own little enclosed back garden - no chance of one's pet being able to escape. Our dog, Sam settled down well from the beginning. It had everything one could wish for. There was a lovely welcome pack when we arrived and butter and milk in the fridge. The owners and their family are lovely people. We'd love to visit again.

Beautiful, spotless cottage with very charming hosts. Great welcome package, including homemade chutney, jam and welshcakes and local cheeses. Located in the country very close to the coast (Aberaeron is a lovely seaside resort). Very dog friendly. The only thing we would have liked is a coffeemaker, preferably a cafetiere. We have already recommended the cottage to 2 people. We hope to visit again. Thank you again to our hosts.

We had a great time at this cottage. The owners and family were lovely, always around if needed but not obtrusive. Everything was spotless and well maintained. Garden small but safe. Dogs loved the ponds but they did get a bit wet and smelly! Lots of places to visit and walk the dogs. Really wonderful part of the country and a great place to stay.
