Set in Exmoor National Park, The Granary is a first floor apartment set amongst some of the most glorious scenery in Devon.

Alta Lyn Barns are set high above the seaside towns of Lynton and Lynmouth. With far reaching views out to the Bristol Channel, these three properties (HKKP, HKKW & HMMH) are part of a barn conversion set within the Exmoor National Park. In Ilfracombe you will find the harbour area, Damian Hirst’s ’Verity’ guarding the harbour entrance. There is also the Landmark Theatre and a good range of shops and amenities. A visit to the Combe Martin Wildlife Park and Watermouth Castle all make for an enjoyable day out. Travelling east, take a trip into medieval Dunster, 10 miles, with its historic yarn market, deer park and imposing castle (National Trust). Minehead is 18 miles away, with its super promenade to sit and enjoy an ice cream. Minehead is also home to the West Somerset Steam Railway. Take in some of the small villages close by on your travels, such as Blue Anchor, Porlock, Bossington and Withypool. There are National Trust properties at Arlington and Knightshayes. Enjoyed our stay although we had very bad weather. Cottage very comfortable, there were a few maintenance issues which we reported to Peter and Michael who were both very helpful, if we needed anything. Would visit again with preferably better weather.

the bed was very comfortable, the bathroom very good, what lets this holiday home down is the lowness of the furniture, I found the settee and chair very uncomfortable and used mu camping chair instead. Cheap hobs should also be banned. There are many instant type electric hobs these days other the old fashioned , unresponsive type.

The Granary is a nice upstairs apartment in a converted barn. It is reasonably well equiped but could do with a vacuum cleaner. It's not the cleanest place I've stopped in (eg cobwebs etc) but is far from the dirtiest. Furniture and bed are reasonably comfortable - in general its a nice enough place with an amazing shower. Unfortunately its not the best place in the world if you have mobility problems. There are numerous walks from there but up and down steep hills which are very muddy if the weathers isn't brilliant. There is a decent enough pub within walking distance but again its down a steep hill so if you want a drink without driving it can be difficult and the nearest shop is some distance away. It's an ideal place for ramblers and tourists but not good for people with limited mobility. In general its a nice enough place and I wouldn't want to put people off - just think about your needs. You need to travel some distance to see areas of interest but when there the sights are lovely and its a good base for this. The owners (Pete and his mother) are there for you and will ensure you feel looked after. Take it easy when driving into the grounds because its not the best driveway in the world and could damage your car if you're not careful.

Cottage was expensive for standard expected. Basics like tea towel not supplied. No iron or ironing board or hairdryer.Decor could do with an update.Potential for a beautiful property being missed.

We had a lovely week at the Granary. It was very comfortable, clean and well equipped and a great location with lovely views. Don't be swayed by any negative reviews - which almost put me off. Yes the oven wasn't working very well - but grill and hob were - and when pointed out to the owners they were immediately keen to fix it. Me and my two boys had a very relaxing stay, enjoyed the garden and seeing the alpacas too and would definitely return.
