Description

In an idyllic part of South Cornwall set with an AONB just 6 miles from St Mawes and a short drive to beaches.

Set within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, high on the Roseland Landscape, these two converted barns afford spacious ground floor holiday accommodation, with commanding views across the countryside. Situated just 6 miles from St Mawes, they are 1 mile from a golden sandy beach and a short drive from many other beautiful beaches. Although completely self-contained, they may be booked together. The renowned Philliegh Cookery School is close by and a great experience. This idyllic part of South Cornwall has much to offer visitors, including a picturesque coastal walk leading to St Anthony Head, with its superb views of Falmouth and the Black Rock. St Mawes itself abounds with restaurants, pubs and shops, and its clover-leaf shaped castle, built by Henry VIII, is well worth a visit. In summer there are boat trips up the river, passing through beautiful wooded creeks. There is a 2-acre paddock available for guests to use, ideal for ball games and dog exercising. Please note: The Long Barn (GW2) and The Granary (GW3) can be booked together to sleep up to 6 people. Shops 6 miles, pub, the famous Roseland Inn, ½ mile.

All on ground floor: Living/dining room/kitchen with breakfast bar and beams. 1 twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom with bath, shower cubicle and toilet. Slate floors throughout.

Both properties: Full oil central heating, electricity, bed linen and towels included. Freeview TV. Stereo/CD. Electric cooker. Microwave. Washer/dryer. Dishwasher. Fridge/freezer. Sitting-out area. Shared 2-acre paddock. Parking. No smoking. NB: Ornamental water pump in garden.

Excellent cottage (best ever stayed in) in very well maintained grounds. Our hosts were lovely and very attentive and helpful. We certainly expect to re-visit next year. The Roseland peninsula is a lovely undiscovered part of Cornwall.

A charming barn conversion in a beautiful and quiet location on the Roseland peninsula in Cornwall, which comfortable, well equiped and very, very clean.

Lovely cottage with almost everything we needed in the kitchen and sitting areas. Unfortunately our few days there on a romantic break were spoiled by the short single beds (not designed for taller people) which, when pushed together to form a ‘double', did not meet. There was a gap between the metal-framed mattresses so we were still, in effect, sleeping in two single beds. This, plus too-short single duvets (horrible when you wake up in the night in the gap between 2 duvets!) meant we were constantly tired. So, be aware if you are a couple who like to cuddle up! Otherwise excellent - new hairdryer, nice crockery etc, good shower with very hot water, loved the stable door so that even when it was raining (which it was 4 days out of 5) we could have fresh air and keep the dogs in. Lovely stone floors and neutral decoration. £25 per dog (we have 2) seems a bit steep - 5 hours cleaning at £10 an hour? Owners are in the farmhouse right next door. They have wifi but the cottage does not. Nice walks along the lane. Didn't see a single car, so good for dogs too.
