Description

A rural retreat with outstanding views across meadowland – great for spotting wildlife. Fantastic walks from the door and amenities within a mile.

So much space surrounds The Granary - it stands in perfect rural seclusion, reached by its own tree-lined avenue, and is set on the edge of the owners’ sheep farm. It boasts a contemporary and calm interior design throughout, and the ground floor rooms are large and light-filled. Comfortably furnished and equipped, it makes a superb holiday venue for large families or groups. Large floor-to-ceiling windows (the length of the property) enable outstanding views to be enjoyed across meadowland. From the sofas or the huge dining table, guests can watch sheep grazing lazily in the fields, observe the wildlife on the busy farm pond, and spot the barn owls which hunt from ancient oaks. Guests can use the wall-size map of Norfolk to plan days out and about in the surrounding area.
There are walks and signed trails to enjoy around the farm (with unfenced ponds). The spectacular unspoilt Norfolk coastline and traditional market towns of Swaffham, Ely and Kings Lynn, are within easy reach. Year-round there are activities and attractions for all ages including Gooderstone Water Gardens, Stowe Farm, Grimes Graves, Welney Nature Reserve, High Lodge Forest Adventure Park and Norfolk Cycle Way. There is a good cycling network of quiet lanes from the doorstep, and plenty of space to kick a ball, play cricket or practise frisbee skills. Shops, pubs and Oxburgh Hall (NT), 1 mile.

Spacious, beamed open-plan living/dining room with rugs on tiled floor and well-equipped farmhouse-style kitchen. Sitting room with TV and small kitchen area. Twin bedroom. Wet room/toilet. Separate toilet. Spiral stairs to first floor: Twin bedroom leading to galleried double bedroom. Main staircase to first floor: Double bedroom and en-suite bathroom with over bath shower and toilet. Double bedroom with 6ft bed (which can form two twin beds). Twin bedroom with sloping ceiling. Bathroom with over bath shower and toilet. Beamed throughout with sloping ceilings.

We had a great weekend at Granary Cottage. The barn was spacious, light and modern with pretty views to the open countryside. Plenty of room for us to spread out and relax. We especially enjoyed the homemade cake.

A beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. Well worth a visit if you like peace and quiet. Plenty to do locally and Hunstanton only 30 minutes away.

This is a perfect property for us as a large group for a weekend. The living areas are ideal for many people to sit and be sociable. We would certainly book again.

A wonderful barn conversion in beautiful countryside. Very comfortable, clean and absolutely ideal for our family get together. Even though the weather was very cold the accommodation was very warm due to the under floor heating. Everything you could want in the way of kitchen equipment and seating. Well done!

We enjoyed Christmas in this beautiful building with our children and grandchildren. The furniture was a bit dodgy - dining chairs had loose seats and armchairs held up on chocks, but in a way this added to the charm. The owners were close by and very welcoming and helpful, supplying chocolate cake on our arrival and finding a suitable container for our Christmas tree. The week passed by too quickly.
