Description

Spacious, detached granary, with beams and tiled floors, landing strip for small planes available, Constable Country easily reached.

Tucked away in a rural location, The Granary is surrounded by the owners’ arable farmland. This spacious, detached, holiday granary conversion, which has been renovated to a very good standard, is a walker’s and cyclist’s paradise with footpaths and the South Suffolk cycle route close by. The Granary has a south-facing lawned garden area to the rear where guests can enjoy alfresco dining. The owners also have a landing strip for small planes which is available by arrangement. Located just 1½ miles from the village of Long Melford, famous for its numerous antique shops, it makes an ideal base from which to explore the quaint villages and market towns of Suffolk, including Lavenham, Clare and Bury St Edmunds. The nearby market town of Sudbury (3 miles), one-time home of the artist Thomas Gainsborough, has a good range of shops, pubs, restaurants, a theatre and good rail links to London and Colchester. The property is also convenient for Newmarket, a day at the races and Cambridge, the city famous for its colleges, museums, botanic gardens and art galleries, you can also try your hand at punting on the River Cam. The Granary is ideally located to explore nearby Constable Country or head slightly further afield to the Suffolk Heritage Coast, where you will find the seaside gems of Southwold and Aldeburgh. Shop and pub 1 mile.

Fantastic property, very spacious lounge including the dining area with a really big dining table. Great for groups or larger families to relax together. The owners made us so welcome and were really helpful. The kitchen is large with a second dining table and very well equipped and everything was spotlessly clean.

Spotless building in good location for short walk to long melford. I would have preferred there to be a radio in the lounge area but other than that the building was great

Lovely bright, spacious and welcoming property. Plenty of rooms and bathrooms for all combinations of families or friends. Arrived to find a super fruit cake in the kitchen which went a treat with our well earned cuppa.

We stayed at the granary in August 15 for 7 nights . There was 8 in our party all family spreading over 3 generation everyone of us really enjoyed ourself . There was so much to see and do . The cottage was well equip each bedroom had irs own ensuite which meant everyone had privacy . The only critusume is the fridge wasn't big enough for our party of 8 we could have done with a second fridge or,a larger one . We would defernatly stay there again

We stayed at the Granary for one week - 6 adults and Willow our black lab, to celebrate my Mums 80th - Everything was just as we had envisaged from the website and then some. Large open spacious, warm and inviting, Elaine, the owner greeted us and made us feel very welcome, even purchasing some excellent walking guides for us to use during our stay which we did exploring the area on some good 7 and 8 mile walks through fabulous countryside. I would definitely be most happy to recommend this accommodation, and Ocado do home deliveries too for the important stuff like wine and nibbles !! Thank you Elaine we had a fab holiday. Jerry, Tracy, Ed, Peter, Marianne, Ron and Willow from Chester.
