It was such a pleasant experience. Wondered why we didn't do it this way often. Very nice and kind landlady always willing to help make us as comfy as possible.

The only disappointment was the upstairs living room suggested a lovely view but we overlooked the tennis court and a few parked vehicles! The accommodation was spacious and spotlessly clean. The kitchen was well equipped but it would have been nice to have a little fresh milk on arrival. We had a lovely holiday as the location is good for exploring and there are some pleasant walks nearby.

The cottage is dark and gloomy and the décor is from the 1970's. There is no view of the pool or gardens, just the tennis court and car park. the bed is extremely hard and uncomfortable. The temperature of the pool makes it unusable for more than 5 minutes at a time. The owners had a house party when we were there but did not inform us that this was happening and the music thumping away into the night. We did not feel comfortable sitting out as we had to walk through the other guests garden to get there, disturbing them. Overall, this is the worst holiday cottage I have stayed at. As shame as the area is lovely.

Response on behalf of the owner; We were particularly disappointed in your experience at The Granary as all other feedback has been very positive. Unfortunately, we feel you may have not taken on board the scenario you were coming to. Our details state the property shares the garden with the other holiday property, and the pool is only solar panel heated and ‘can be cold ‘. Also, we are pet friendly properties with both The Granary and The Oast House each accepting 3 pets. It is unfortunate that this was not noted from the property description as we understand a member of your party had a phobia of dogs and would not come out into the garden for the duration of your two week stay. I presume this made you feel a bit ‘trapped’ inside The Granary, making the property feel gloomy. The sun does not shine directly through the Granary windows so to be sat inside looking out onto sunshine can appear dull. The pool temperature varies according to the weather, we have plenty of family members who were in the pool during the time of your stay, and some people can be hardier than others. The décor of the Granary, which will not be to everyone's taste, can be seen on the website, as can the view of the tennis court and gravel driveway area looking over to the fields and village church across the lane to us. The beds are all foam mattresses and again it would depend what you are used to sleeping on as to if one considers them hard or not. The granary is set in our home and we had a gathering on the Saturday of your stay, the music was not very loud and was off outside by 11.30pm, a reasonable time. It is a shame that you left half way through the second week ‘due to the bad weather that was expected’; at this point you mentioned no other problem. We can be contacted any time to assist our guests during their stay however; the one thing of course that none of us can do anything about is the British weather.
