The double beds are very small in sunken mattresses are awful the sleep on. The property looks like it hasn't had any money spent on it in 30 years. There's bats dying in the log burning fire. No black bin at the property makes things difficult when you have dogs. And all the pictures of nude children are very inappropriate. The kitchen was poorly equiped. I found myself weeding as the garden was a mess. There was an axe left out which was dangerous for the children.we couldnt all sit and watch a film at the end of a tiring day because its tooked in the window sil and the sofas are just as uncomfy as the beds...we couldn't rest!....we left two days ealy in favour of a comfy bed! It was far too expensive....we were all very disappointed..

    Response from: administrator

Response on behalf of the owner; I am disheartened to hear that you have not fully enjoyed your stay at The Gardener’s Cottage. I have been with Country Cottages for over twenty five years and inevitably we have had criticisms over the years, which we always try to address. I can well understand your concern in regards to the bats. We had put in a new wood burner and some bats had unfortunately fallen down the new chimney. I rang the installers, who simply forgot to come. There is now a mesh in place to stop this from happening again. The House instructions give clear instructions about the disposal of bin bags, dog waste etc. As far as I can remember, there is one very small photograph of our children aged 3 climbing a tree and I would certainly say that this is not inappropriate. The large farmhouse style kitchen includes a Lancanche cooker and is very well equipped. Should a guest mention an omission, we always act quickly to add the missing item to the inventory. The enclosed garden is tended to by our gardener and no other previous guests have made comments about the garden being ‘messy', quite the opposite really! The Cottage is our family home and we take great pride in maintaining the property to a high standard and feel very lucky to be able to share our beautiful home with others. I am very disappointed that your expectations of the Cottage were not met and I find it difficult to see what more could be provided.
