We did not like Garden Cottage and did not think it lived up to the photos online - upon arrival the cottage was musty smelling and the sheets damp. The quality and facilities were not as expected either. It was outdated. The owner was not present upon arrival (which we had been contacted about, so not an issue per se), so we were not able to follow up with him directly, but we were so dissatisfied we left to find alternative accommodation.

    Response from:

Response on behalf of the owner; We were surprised and disappointed with this review which is quite out of character with all the others on our very popular cottage. It is a shame these guests did not stay more than a couple of hours because we would have been able to explain that the faint smell came from a small vase of wild flowers which when removed returned the cottage to its normal sweet smelling state. For the record it is not in the least bit damp, we put dry freshly laundered linen on all beds and we are usually around to greet guests on arrival to sort out any problems. The cottage is nearly 300 years old and traditionally furnished but with all the equipment you would expect in a modern home, and it is our policy to immediately provide any extra equipment our guests need.

a comfortable home from home, surrounding area attractions do not adequately cater for the disabled so was slightly disappointed at the lack of disabled access and was very restricted.

Vey nice stay, we were three couples, the cottage is very cosy, it was very clean, beds are very comfortable so we slept very well. Impressive book collection within the house, useful guide books and historical ones. The owner(Bob) lives next door and he is nice and helpful, he was waiting for our arrival to welcome us ven being almost midnight, so it was very kind of him. He also left fresh milk and scones. The location is beautiful in the middle of the lovely Wiltshire countryside, stones away from Longleat Safari and heaven's gate, a very nice walking route with spectacular landscape views over Longleat castle. Overall a very pleasant stay.

Lovely cottage in beautiful location, friendly owner. Very peaceful and quiet with walks on the doorstep. Loved seeing the bats in the garden and the deer nearby. Would love to stay here again!

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location. A week was not long enough as so much to see and do. The highlight being Longleat safari park. Would definately stay again
