A well positioned property, with an open fire and panoramic views of the fells around Ullswater.

The Gables nestles into the fell side above Glenridding, with fabulous panoramic views of the fells around Ullswater. Helvellyn may be accessed directly from the doorstep and with many other beautiful walks in the area your car may be parked up for the week. The Travellers Rest Inn is within ¼ mile with shops and cafes in the centre of the village approximately ½ mile. Glenridding is well positioned to visit both the Northern and Southern Lakes, with the popular tourist towns of Keswick and Ambleside nearby.
The Aira Force waterfall is three miles along the lake shore and Kirkstone Pass is a similar distance in the opposite direction. You can take a trip around the Ullswater Steamer and with other visitor attractions, such as Rheged and Rookin House Activity Centre close by, your holiday may be action packed or just relax in the attractive Lakeland garden and enjoy the tremendous views.

Ground Floor:
The accommodation has Fischer storage heaters and comprises:
Lounge/diner: With TV, DVD, radio, open fire (fuel not provided) and fell views.
Kitchen area (off the lounge): With electric oven and hob, fridge with small freezer and microwave.
Bedroom 1: With double bed, TV and en-suite with electric shower over bath, heated towel rail, wash basin and WC.
Lower Ground Floor:
Bedroom 2: With twin beds, TV, patio doors leading to sitting out areas and en-suite with shower, basin and WC.

All electric and bed linen provided. Cot available. Telephone for incoming calls. Wi-Fi available. Terraced garden with 2 patio areas and seating. Parking on the lane for 1 car.

    We picked The Gables for our family of four to stay in mainly because of its location, and we were not disappointed! It was great to be able to walk up Helvellyn from the door, or drive short distances to other stunning walks. We had some mixed emotions about the house itself. Overall it was decent. Plus points were the effort the owner had gone to to make sure that everything you needed in terms of facilities and equipment was provided. And we just loved the amazing view from the huge windows across the lake to the mountains beyond. So we felt very 'welcomed'. From a neutral perspective, worth noting that a quirk of the lay-out is that one of the bedrooms is downstairs whilst the other is upstairs - this worked for us as our kids are a little older and it was nice to have the space, but may not work for others. Both bedrooms were ensuite which was appreciated. We rent holiday cottages quite a lot (great for holidays with kids!) and comparatively, this cottage was one of the smallest we have stayed in. Yes, it was big enough for us 4, absolutely, but cost-wise it is less house for the pound though I appreciate that location is excellent though. The main challenge that I had with the place was the water. After a day's walking I just wanted a warm shower or bath. The water was never hot enough to run a decent bath, and the poor water pressure in both showers in cold bathrooms meant that it was quite a chilly experience having a shower. I am completely understanding of challenges in water pressure in certain locations, but this was the main thing that impacted our enjoyment of the cottage so possibly it's worth looking at? In short, we felt very welcomed, in a cottage in a lovely location, and we could see from the visitors book how many people loved staying at The Gables, we just would have liked better water facilities!

    Cosy 'gable' end cottage right on the final Rd drop from Helvellyn to the village. There were lovely short walks up the next valley and along the other shore of Ullswater. Views of the lake and hills from the lounge very dramatic.
