The Forge has plenty of space for two people and the layout has been well thought out. It has been tastefully decorated. It is modern but still has a cosy feel. The inside of the cottage was very clean but the outside area could do with some work to make it more attractive - just some flowers would help. The mattress is comfortable but sits below the level of the wooden frame in which it sits. This makes it awkward to get in and out of bed. There is no blind for the bedroom sky light which would be a problem in summer (this has been mentioned in the visitor book several times). The appliances were adequate but the TV was very small and the bathroom lacked an extractor fan or an openable window which meant it steamed up very quickly. The lid for the dishwasher tabs is missing and the lid for the bin keeps falling off.

A lovely cottage situted in an ideal location for exploring the idyllic Brecon Beacons. The cottage, close to the centre of Abergavenny was easy to find by car. Although relatively compact, we found the cottage to be spacious enough, helped by light shining into rooms through the many windows. The kitchen was an excellent size for cooking meals after a long day of rambling and the living area was perfect for relaxing in the evenings. We found the bed extremely comfortable and the TV on the wall was a nice touch! We would happily stay in the cottage again, however, as we found the phone signal fairly poor in the cottage, a wifi connection would have been helpful.

Unfortunately, I very much dislike beds with wooden sides! This is solely a personal preference and the one thing which would prevent me from using the cottage in the foreseeable future. One major comment - the name of the cottage should really be somewhere! There is no way to be certain you have reached the right place, unless you happen to recognise the cottage from the photo on the web.
