The Cumbrian Regional Specialist - Fantastic properties in the most favourable locations. No one knows Cumbria better!

15th Century property on the fringes of Englands book town, Sedbergh - a holiday retreat of great character set in an idyllic and historic location.

Sedbergh is set to the west of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is also close to the eastern fells of the Lake District, only 30 minutes drive from Windermere and is therefore ideal for exploring both areas of unspoilt and protected countryside. Sedbergh has a variety of narrow lanes and small clusters of old buildings including a 12th Century Norman church (restored in 1886) and, overlooking the town, is the site of Castlehaw, an ancient motte and bailey castle. However Sedbergh has a new status, ’Book Town for England’, and as such has a growing number of book  shops, both new and second hand and is set to evolve over the coming months and years into a  literary paradise.
Ingmire Hall is a superb example of 15th Century architecture, on the fringes of the main town and is reached down a tree lined driveway opening out onto a glorious courtyard in front of this impressive ancient building, complete with water feature, lawned terraces and other fascinating features. The Hall has been sympathetically divided to create some very appealing properties, The Dovery being to the rear of the main building and having a delightful small terrace accessed from one of the bedrooms as well as a paved terrace to the ground floor. The accommodation is spacious and comfortable and ideal for the larger party, the combination of 21st Century facilities blending effortlessly with 15th Century history.

Loved the place, location, history of the building adds up to the overall feel, only downside was boiler problems, but once we found out how to reset it and get it back working, even that didn't bother us. Would definitely recommend others to stay there, and even consider coming back myself if going to that area again.
