There are five bedrooms in total – two on the first floor share a family shower room with toilet whilst a third and fourth have a Jack and Jill shower room with toilet. The fifth bedroom is on the ground floor along with a separate bathroom and toilet. Superb location for exploring Rolleston-on-Dove and short drive to Burton-on-Trent. 2 pubs in the village, both serving excellent food. The Spread Eagle is a 30 second walk. Not many cottages have a HD projector / cinema room.

We had a very enjoyable family weekend at the Croft. There was plenty to keep us entertained when we were in the house, table tennis, table football and the cinema room were very well used. Though we had poor weather, the children enjoyed playing in the garden when it wasn't raining. There were plenty of different areas, so that people could join in with others or sit quietly reading.

We chose this property because we needed 3 bathrooms with showers due to the mix of guests not all being family. Unfortunately only one shower worked and the toilet and sink in one of the bathrooms didn't,t work either. We had been contacted by the ow ner prior to going to say that the cleaner had found water on the bathroom floor so could we watch out for a leek. Our problem was that you could stand under the shower for 5 mins and not get any water then it came belting out staying all over the place and then just as abruptly stopped. The same happened at the sink getting you absolutely soaked into the bargain the toilet also didn't,t flush unless you pulled the stop cockup. This was the only bathroom at this side of the property for 2 of the bedrooms which was very awkward especially at night we all had to trapseover the other side of the house down our flight of stairs and up another flight. There was obviously major issues with air locks or whatever and we believe that the owner was aware of this before we arrived as she had phoned us. There was also comments in the visitors book about shame about the plumbing. As we were only there for a weekend celebrating a birthday we felt we did not have the time to be staying in waiting for a plumber to arrive and didn't,t like the idea of someone we didn't,t know coming into the property whilst we were out with our things ther. The owner phoned us afterwards and asked how things were and tried to say we should of run the water to get the air lock through but my husband is a plumber and he said this was more than an air lock issue. She rang several times trying to excuse the plumbing as suddenly just happened but we believe this has happened on many occasions by what we read in the comments . It is unfair that we paid such a lot of money for a weekend when we needed 3 bathrooms and only could use 1. This property should not be marketed as having 3 fa vilifies when only 1 worked and it is clear this has happened before. The rest of the place was excellent. It was a shame it spoilt what would of been a perfect week end. I would go back again but only if I was assured there were no more plumbing problems and it had been properly checked before guests arrived the showers and sinks. We followed instuctions and made sure only one person tried to shower at a time but then only one could anyway as only one worked.

    Response from: Administrator

Response on behalf of the Owner; The Croft is a delightful 17th century property with lots of lovely characteristics. Unfortunately on this occasion there was an airlock in the pipes which restricted the water flow. As the Owners, we were quick to respond but the guests refused to have the plumber out to solve the problem and therefore there was nothing further we could do at that point. The Croft isn't a modern house and is therefore quirky but that's its charm and why we have numerous repeat bookings. There had been a small water leak by the heated towel rail which we had just had fixed and the guests were made aware of this. We do strive to maintain the property to a very good standard and try to ensure our guests have an enjoyable and well-earned break!

This was a whole-family gathering to celebrate a 'significant' birthday (we went to Sudbury Hall and Alton Towers). The Croft was an ideal venue, particularly as the lay-out meant that all 3 sections of the family slept in their own areas. It is a lovely house - clean, comfortable, well-equipped and well-situated. We would be delighted to go back.

Our family of seven stayed here and were amazed at it's beauty and lovely surroundings. The weather was not good so the cinema room was made use of! A wonderful house with everything catered for

The property was in a good location and walking distance to pub and shops. We loved the cinema room it was just a shame it didn't play blue ray discs. Large garden for the dogs to run around in and for ball games. Would certainly stay here again
