Description

A great family base for that special occasion and conveniently located just 300 yards away from the pub.

This large five bedroomed 17th-century character house is set in the heart of the prestigious rural village of Rolleston-on-Dove – first documented in King Edmund’s Charter of 942AD. Overlooking the church and village green, the extended cottage has privacy assured from the very large enclosed landscaped gardens allowing areas for complete relaxation. The Croft is a detached holiday property and is close to a popular village pub which serves excellent food and wine. Furnished to a very high standard throughout, The Croft has its own cinema room which allows guests the chance to enjoy a movie on a large screen. The large family kitchen is well-equipped and the large dining room area is fantastic to enjoy a meal together at the end of a busy day. There is a conservatory and the house has Wi-Fi, great for those that like to keep in touch whilst away or for researching the many local attractions in the area. There are five bedrooms in total – two on the first floor share a family shower room with toilet whilst a third and fourth have a Jack and Jill shower room with toilet. The fifth bedroom is on the ground floor along with a separate bathroom and toilet. The North Staffordshire Railway gives access to Burton-on-Trent and nearby facilities include Alton Towers, Drayton Manor Park, Snibson Discovery Park, Conkers, Bass Museum, Carsington Reservoir, Ashbourne and several National Trust properties. The famous Tutbury Crystal and Tutbury Castle are also nearby and for keen cyclists, the Tissington Trail with its 13-mile route is a must. Really brilliant house - the space, decor, furnishings, cleanliness, taste, range of cutlery/crockery/utensils. Very high standard throughout. the home movie room was a huge hit! A place ideally situated for a family Birthday get-together - we had a fabulous time. Owners very friendly, helpful & accommodating.

We booked the house to stay in during the lead up to, and after, our wedding at St Mary's Church opposite the property. It was an excellent base to put up our family, with the club across the road offering hearty breakfasts and the coop for anything else. The kitchen was also well eqipped with plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware making the house ideal for family and friends to gather. There was plenty of outdoor seating too - the only thing we missed was a BBQ. The bedrooms were a good size, and comfortable, as were the bathrooms. The view of the garden and church, and village surroundings were lovely and could be enjoyed even in the rain as the owners provide several large golfing brollies! Overall, we had a fantastic time and would stay again. Our only issues were difficulty operating the sky in the cinema room - but we were too occupied catching up with family and the enjoyment of the wedding for this to bother us!
