We booked this property as a getaway with family for us to spend some quality time together but also explore some of the local sights. There was a number of days out within a very short drive (National Trust sites, Pooles Caverns, Cotton Dell etc.) all of which were well worth a visit. The property was immaculate upon arrival and was given a very warm welcome and the bottle of wine was very welcome. We loved our time in the property which was absolutely perfect and the owners could not have been more helpful. They spoke to us prior to arrival to advise us of the specific property details, local information and to address any questions we may have. I cannot recommend this property enough for large groups looking for a quiet getaway. I was personally a big fan of the log burner stove which was not necessary as the property was incredibly well insulated but wanted to use more for atmosphere

The Cowshed is by far the best accommodation we have been to ! Absolutely superb place throughout and has everything you need for your stay! 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 1 ensuite plus marvellous lounge with 3 sofas and 55 inch TV! Gary was excellent with his chats about the Cowshed and local area. Already hoping to go back!!

We stayed here for a long weekend with family after getting married and had an amazing time. The cow shed was big enough for us all and was spotless. Even being local to us, we would consider staying again.

The Cowshed is a wonderful place to stay. We were a party of 7 and had the most fabulous time in this beautiful barn. Everywhere was spotless and the beds and bedding to die for didnt want to get up ! Each of the beautiful bathrooms were lovely and the slipper foot bath ideal for relaxing in. The kitchen was well equiped and had everything we needed to cook a large Sunday lunch and the large table ideal for our party. The benefit of a large television with surround sound system pleased the kids and we all loved the log burner . Thank you for letting us stay !!!

The perfect property for three generations to enjoy a family holiday in spectacular countryside. The cow in the living area followed us everywhere in the room - we could not escape its gaze. The conversion of the two hundred year old property was so exceptional and with so much thought for a family's needs it was more than just a home from home. Look forward to revisiting.

We stayed at The Cow Shed to celebrate my Husbands 60th & our Sons 30th. We could not have asked for a better cottage to rent. We had everything we could ask for. It was fitted out with all you would need in the kitchen. The bathrooms were immaculate and the space for 8 of us was more than enough. The location was perfect with a great view and was a pleasure to sit outside with a coffee or a wine. It was close to Alton Towers Theme Park which was our reason for our stay. We were left Tea, Coffee and Milk and Wine to start of our stay which was a great thought, and as we were delayed arriving from Scotland, our Asda order arrived before us and Ken kindly brought it in and put away the chilled and frozen food. What service. Gary was so helpful with the queries I had before we arrived and was very accommodating. He was very easy to deal with and also gave us recommendations for restaurants in the surrounding area, and Ken gave us a informative tour when he handed us the keys when we arrived. All in all I would not hesitate to rent the cottage again, and we still miss the fantastic weekend we all had. A very enjoyable stay.

What a perfect getaway from groups of friends or families. We absolutely loved our stay at the Cowshed which is a home from home in beautiful surroundings. Everything you need is there and has been thought of and the little welcome package of tea, coffee and wine was a nice touch. Beds are comfy and the bathrooms are beautiful! The kitchen was well stocked with everything, TV and wifi was sufficient for our needs and the book and dvd collection was very extensive! We have already booked our return visit and cannot wait to stay at the Cow Shed again and explore the surroundings. I highly recommend this cottage and the owners communication before the stay was brilliant.

Stayed here recently with some of my family, the cowshed was spacious, clean and very handy for transport with most places we wanted to go to within 20 miles of travelling with some fantastic places we visted such as bakewell and dovedale. Food wise locally we tried the local pub the blacksmiths arms and must say were disgusted with the service, the food and nearly 2 hours to cook one course which was dire and not worth eating. On the flip side the Queens at Freeyhay just down the road, stunning food, a good price and great service wish we had gone there the first night out rather than the other pub:) The cow shed owners however got to say were really helpful. met on arrival with a guided tour, during our stay we had a bit of a issue with a swarm of wasps moving into our lounge which stung my 5 year old which when we contacted Gary dealt with the act of nature as quick as he could keeping us all updated all the way. Considering he had no control over this happening we were quite impressed with his reaction to solve the issue to make our stay more comfortable as quick as he could. The setting is lovely in the summer evenings to sit and have a glass of "fizzy pop" watching the sun set and the kitchen was well stocked with equipment. All in all we had a lovely break and would go back there again with no hestitation.

The Cow Shed is the perfect spot. Whether you use it as a Base to go off and explore or want to just chill out and relax where you are. It has everything you could ask for and was perfect for a long weekend with family to celebrate a 40th birthday. We had family members from 7-70 years and there was enough to keep everyone entertained. It was spotlessly clean and immaculately presented. Would definitely recommend!

Good location in central Britain with lots to do. The Cowshed enabled the whole family to meet together. It was well equipped and there was plenty of room for all of us.
