Just a mile or so off the A9, The Cottage makes a super base for touring this lovely part of the Highlands. Caithness is popularly described as one of Europe’s last wildernesses, where you could walk, climb or mountain bike all day without meeting anyone else. Visit castles, distilleries, and miles of unspoilt and dramatic coastline where you can surf and kite buggy, or for the less energetic, just take a stroll and watch the abundance of bird and sea life. Easy access to Wick and Thurso with their variety of amenities and also to the beautiful Orkney Islands – a ferry can be taken from Scrabster, Gill’s Bay or John O’Groats. Shops, pub and restaurant 5 miles.
